Its the prefix of the tyre, people think that a BT016 is a BT016 but they are wrong, there are many types of BT and the *prefix* is what tells them apart.

Sorry mate, what I mean is there are many types of BT016 some bikes have a different requirement so Bridgestone make tyres to suit the prefix is what denotes what BT016 is for what bike, my book is elsewhere so I can not look them up but the J model tyre is produced for the ZX10R, I think the same tyre can be used on the blade. Only Bridgestone would know exactly what the difference is, it could be compound, construction and so on... If there is nothing between the *_____* then the tyre is a base BT016 and can be used as directed....the "magic" book shows what tyres are supposed to be fitted to what bike. Some dealers just keep base model tyres and don't care what they fit...

Now thats something I was not aware of. I used to work in a car tyre distributor (continental owned ) and used to sell pirellis for porsches and Jags with their different prefixes. Is the standard Bt016 any good cos I've only just done 250 miles on mine scrubbing em in as well as running the bike in.

Ohhh tyres...its like the oil debate...lol I don't see why not, all I can tell you is what I know and with out the bible of tyres its hard for me to say whats what (its at my workshop) all I can tell you now is when I order tyres they are ordered for the bike in question, if I have to look them up my self then I order the exact tyre for the bike. For example the XJR1300 runs a BT020 but not just any 020 a 020G, the Z1000 runs a BT015J and so on some bikes dont have any specific tyre and just to confuse you more other makes like say Power Pures or 2CT's do not have variations of the tyre, in other words one make fits all so to speak.. For most of us as long as they are round and black and have 1mm of tread its good enough...lol Oh and yes they always cost more....lol

Iv always been tempted by the cheap tyre deals but I cant help but wonder why they are cheap when other sets are 300 quid ?

Would you put a set of BTO16J's on your blade Arthur ??
