as title...what gearing is best for oulton,i need new sprockets and a chain before i ride it so hope some one can help, its been sugested to me that +2 rear and -2 front works well, also were can i get them cheap.;-)bike is stock 2006 1000rr
will check my gearing ratio's when i get home, but that set up sounds very flighty to me,thats the same as going 8 up on the rear!!!! and coming up over clay hill+hill top will be very interesting. i assume your looking for 520 pitch? (are standard blades 530?) no idea about stock specs.
15:44 is good for 1:42's, depends what laptimes you're looking at. Maybe start with a 46 and move to a 45 if you're running out of revs in certain places.
unfortunately theres not many doing those times on t/days,let alone club boys lol.but thats a very impressive time bongo. for an average rider like me (around 1.50) this is what i found works for me(posted on a different thread aswell by accident) hi,checked my gearing, and i found that 15/42-44 worked fine in most cases. tbh i'd be a bit dubious about dropping 2 off the front, did it once a few years ago, with +2 on the rear and it was very hard to pin the the throttle and keep the front down, especially at somewhere like oulton. deers leap cley hill hill top druids even coming out turn 1 if your on it enough. all make a light front end "interesting". deffo -1 on the front, then for me no more than 2/3 on the rear.i've got a 14 that your more than welcome to borrow to see how it feels if you like.
I'm not on 42's mate, i've not ridden there on the blade yet, I've got that on my data sheets from Sam who raced there with British The boy's quick!
Bongo I bet your bloody close to 42's anyway the blades the quickest bike out there so you should beat that
well when you've got yourself happy with your set up,be good to tag on the back for session (not doing 42's mind )
Cheers for the replys guys,Ill go for -1 rear and +2 front and see how I get on,come say hi I'll be on a black bike with black rst leathers and my Nwb hoodie on
