what is this ??

    just removed the left middle cover to install the gear indicator

    and saw this

    what is this round thing

    also this pipe is coming out of it is blocked by a big screw

    Looks like the solenoid valve for air flap, blocking this pipe keeps it open all the time.

    Look up flapper mod, its an air flap that is closed until around 5000rpm when it opens. If you plug the pipe that operates the solenoid it never closes so a bit more induction noise and no air restriction at all. HTH.

    Your bike has had the flapper mod done by a previous owner... although not been done very pretty, looks air-tight and thats all that matters

    why does it need to be air tight?
    The pump is in the front fairing and all it is doing is creating a vacuum for the flapper valves in the intakes, simply pulling the pipe is sufficient keeping the electrical connector on keeps the ECU from throwing up an engine light fault.
