i never checked the map i was running for the last 2 years of owning my bike as i assumed it had a custom one on it (previous owner spent alot of money on it) anyway i plugged in the other week and it appears mine is running one of the generic dynojet ones off the site. it does go well but uses alot of fuel so im thinking about trying some others. any of you guys got any decent ones you could send me? i know a custom map is always going to be best but that would cost money i dont have at the moment. the maps do seem to be all over the place too. you would expect the fueling to increase with engine speed and throttle position smoothly but the normal maps fueling seem to be up and down all the time. anybody know why this is?
I know what you mean, had a PC on my previous bike as well as the Blade. There seems to be no consistency between the map of different exhausts, some mainly lean out across the range others richen, others are all over the place. Trying out different map is a bit of guess works as it may be ok low down but suck up top, a zeroed map is probably better than a map that doesn't suit your set up. Have you tried to look for a second hand Auto tune? as they are generic across all models you can pick em up quite cheaply. Takes a bit of the guess work away as at least you know what AFRs you are running at and avoid running too lean.
i havent really mate, mines pc3 usb so didnt think i could even get autotune (not that i know what it is ) im quite new too this so am still not very clued up tbh. i generally get 90 miles before my reserve light comes on so its not lean at the moment!
you're right the AT isn't compatible with the PC3. It might help if you provide your set up ie year/ exhaust/ filter some other member might have a matching custom map. Doesn't hurt to experiment though,if the throttle feels snatchy if generally indicates a lean condition so try increasing the fuelling by a percent or two. If the throttle is a bit fluffy/chuggy/hesitant (or (stinks) it may be rich, try reducing fuelling a little. I wouldn't go much more than -15% from stock. The only difficulty you will have is that you will need to be able to gauge what % throttle you are at, (when experimenting I had a little sticker on the throttle grip with the %s marked on it) Just a note of warning don't too lean as prolonged use may cause engine damage. This is all bum dyno stuff so it is really guess work and really needs a AFR/power check to verify your results before you use the map for prolonged use. Just keep a back up of your maps so if it feels worse you can revert.
here is some maps I had, the one for the leo vince,K&N,flapper mod is a custom one I got made cant remember which one that is but open them with the software and it will tell you blade map.pvm m121-512.exe m125-011.exe think this is my 05 custom one map2005.djm
cheers for that mate blade map.pvm hasnt worked but il try again. m121-512 is one of the ones off the site but might have a try with that one too. m125-011 is for an 06-07 blade so will it even work with my 04? the custom one looks good too so will probably try that first. my bikes got a link pipe with a scorpion end can, not sure about any oother mods as its pretty much how i bought it but it does have a pretty big carbon intake under the nosecone so im asuming the previous owner wouldnt have gone to that much trouble and kept the standard filters
turns out the m121-512 is the map i have had on my bike all along just put the custom one on and took it for a spin and all seems ok
That's an Arrows map for the 2004 a similar one there for the 2007. Try and locate somewhere on the net for a m121-186 Dan that's the one I'm using just the slightest whiff of throttle and tacho shoots off like crazy.
I couldnt remember what all the maps were as I uploaded them back in 05 for a guy on the blade forum.the 06-07 one might have been another request for a map.the .pvm map was a map I didnt mean to link.its for the power commander 5 oops
thanks again guys. mique i tried searching for that map but it just links me to this conversation on this site
