Well after brands someone noticed this when I was packing up. Glad it did not dig into the tyre. I've noticed its rubbed a few times over the year. Even with a washer to lift the hugger but putting on a 55 rear profile tyre must have not helped. It's been on there 4+ years and I know its hit a few times. Well brands must have been the end of hugger.
What are the physical differences between an ABS hugger and non ABS ? Is it just to allow the routing of the ABS sensor wires or are the swingarms different. Probably more to do with the 55 profile tyre centrifugally expanding at track speeds.
It's mainly down to the Speed and 55 rear but I noticed this 4 years ago when I was touring with luggage. After I got back it hit a little. From my understanding is how the hugger mounts around the wire for the ABS. I used a washer to lift the hugger 1 side a small amount not to rub the wire. How I felt I was falling off a cliff going down Paddock hill at speed must have pushed the rear down a little and not helped
Have you had the suspension done? Sure I can remember reading on here that once you've had that stiffened then the chances are greatly reduced. also is there not an issue with the 55 tyre not working well with the ABS system? Worth looking into? I have an R&G Hugger available for an ABS model if interested,although rather black and boring compared to yours.
I remember putting a honda mini hugger on mine and it was fine. UNTIL I took the wife out, we stopped at lights an could smell burning plastic, the Honda toolkit came out on the side of the road and the hugger and burning smell were no more.
Any recommendations for ABS fitment hugger. I've been looking at Skidmarx, Done's and Conquest carbon. I like the looks of the conquest Carbon one's Anyone had any experience of them on their bikes
I destroyed two of my huggers already, so it is a problem but Honda says there's not a good hugger replacement. But now that i've read about the stiffening the rear shock, i will give that a try and pit one of my old huggers on it and see what will happen.
The R&G one will fit an ABS blade, and won't interfere, mind you it does not do a lot either! And whatever you do, don't use their bolts, they will not come out again if you ever change the bike, only had mine on less than 18 months and they were all rusty. I have a King Carbon on mine, and so far its been OK, but there are signs it has come into contact with the under tray..
