I would LOVE a film about the Battle of Agincourt.

    Man, that would be something!

Preferably with an Englishman in the lead role, rather than the default American or Australian.

    Second you on Trafalgar.

The Henry V's don't count for me, Ken. I don't like the leads and I have Shakespeare issues.

I want a Gladiator-style number. The first volley of English and Welsh archers 'darkened the sun' (poetic license?) and I'd even take off my luddite hat for the cgi of that.

The despatching of French prisoners with 'bollock knives' at the rumour of a counter attack...not very gentlemanly but what a story!

Getting a bit carried away now...

A difficult one that, movies with bikes in yes but otherwise it's just another movie movie if you get me. A movie just about bikes would be like TT 3D aka a documentary.
What idea's would be good if it was a dedicated bike movie?

Bollock daggers were named after the shape of their hilts rather than their target area of choice you know. The wider end of the handle was so that you could lever the point under armour plate and bash it with the palm of your hand to punch through the surcoat or mail underneath.

Have you read any Bernard Cornwell. If not, pick up 'Azincourt'. They should give his books to kids at school. That'll make them enjoy history.

Nelson's a bit of a magnet for me. Died on my birthday you know. Not the actual day Giv'. I've seen the spot he died on, been on the patch of sea it happened and, now, I've stood at his grave side. I just need to go to where he was born now for the full set.

If you'd like a good character to base a Trafalgar movie on, look up Jack Spratt.

Not a lot of people know that about the knives, Ken. Apparently the armpit was the target area of choice. Grim.

Been meaning to get Azincourt for a while. You suggested it.

    I'll look up Spratt.

A film about Mary Seacole would be outstanding too.

And one about Shackleton. And maybe Wilfred Thesiger.

Of course 'Shackleton' featured dear dear Kenny Brannagh, so you wouldn't have watched it. Mary Seacole has been, unfortunately, sidelined by history due to Florence Nightingale's dominance in that particular theatre and probably, even more sadly, because of her colour. So yes, you're right, her time should come. One of my customers has an office and studio in a complex named after her in Plymouth which is where I first came across her. Don't know much about Thisiger apart from the obvious. Must look him up.

A film about the bombing of Dresden from the Germans' point of view.

A film adaptation of this book that I'm reading at the moment

I didn't know a film had been made of Shackleton. There you go. Unfortunately my Kenny allergy gets in the way of that one.

J Spratt! What a boy! And in the days when few sailors could swim! Grief...

W Thesiger's book: The Life of My Choice. Excellent. Think you'd like that.

A decent Trafalgar film would be mustard.

What about one of the circumnavigation of the world by the Golden Hinde?

That Dresden one would be a revelation.

I'd also like a Star Wars 3.5 "When Han met Chewy". Though I feel that working title may need a bit of work.

A massive poster of Mary Seacole's portrait is up on the side of the National Portrait Gallery showing her medals and everything. Beside one of Nelson's, the well-known limb-shy, Norfolk nautician (?).
