Ok so i have read the 'What fast track day tyres' and currently have fitted a set of Pirelli Rosso corsas, great in the summer months with smooth roads but now after 5000 miles they are shot, so i am looking at getting some tryes that will see me through the winter months. I am looking at getting some sport touring tyres that offer superb grip come wet of dry and hot and cold...... am i asking too much?? I have been recommended the Michelin Pilot Road 3 anyone run winter tyres here?

Not asking too much at all.

    Dunlop sportsmart.
They Really Do Everything. I have got loads of meat on then. less than half used after 2.5+K and 1 TD. Great in the went, great touring, and great when on a TD or fast summer road riding.

Get what ya pay for mate!! Tyres are the one and only thing I think you should invest decent money IMO! Can transform a bike in a second.

As Jim said they are the only thing between you and the tarmac. Worth spending money on good tyres

Yes agreed, but just because they are the most expensive does not mean they are the best for the job i require. I have a road car and i do not put the most expensive tyres on only put on what the manufacturer recommends, so spending more on tyres does not always mean the best!!!

there are plenty of tyres that cost more. Just that the current crop of tyres the Sportsmarts are the best all rounders. And From my own experience better than anything I have tried from BT014,15,16, 2CTS, Qualifiers etc..

Took a blade for a test ride earlier this year, when first thinking about chopping in the rr5 signed up for the £750 insurance excess, took a roundabout on and the front end slid, stuck my knee and foot down and saved it in front of a learner driver, standard tyres are not good. New sidi toe sliders bought!

But in this case they are the all round best tyres! Which is why they command high prices.

Rosso corsa are great, and 2ct's are awesome for all round so might be worth a look if cheap?

Oe tyres on blade are worst I've had

Can vouch for Dunlop sportsmart all good so far
As for the price I spent a little extra as they are good allrounders with good life so if I get an extra 1k or more out of them thats the extra cash well spent in my book.

Michelin Pilot 3's have a good rep so have the dunlop roadsmart 2 both very good in the wet and enough dry grip for sports bikes.

If you want cheap get an old set of Michelin pilot powers sets around the £180 mark and still a decent tyre or the Maxxis supermaxx dimaonds are around £170 at FWR http://www.fwr.co.uk/
review here on the diamonds http://www.visordown.com/motorcycle-news--general-news/maxxis-supermaxx-diamond-road-test/17477.html

Mich road 3's are awesome. Got them on my blade for winter and had them on the gixxer all year.

Amazing in wet or dry conditions and no bullshit - i got 8000 miles out of them on the gixxer (infact, I'm still running the front after 9.5k!)

I'm not shy on the throttle either so really a fantastic tyre with huge life - and not to mention they look the nuts - like intermediate wets!

u can just see them in this pic.. http://1000rr.co.uk/general-1000rr-discussion/1794.htm#post24902
