Ok guys Plan to get a track day van rather than a trailer onto the back of a car. My dad has kindly offered me his old van/people carrier to trade in against something. I was looking at the likes of the Vauxhall Vivaro/Renault Trafic. Or possibly a transit. What's the best to go for reliability wise/value for money? I plan on spending at the most £3k
PMSL......... And so it begins....... i'd go transit personally, spec at that sort of money - 1000's of em around.
Ive had a look myself colin and planned on spending about 4500 only to find that for that kind of money i'd be looking at something with millions of miles, vans seem to be stupidly expensive now.....
Looking at something like this FORD TRANSIT T260 SWB STANDARD ROOF 2.0 TDI 2003 53 REG 68,000 MILES WARRANTED | eBay
I just wouldn't trust that the milage is genuine on that, not saying it isn't but it doesn't seem right imo...
Its guaranteed mileage mate. With a van and any vehicle to be honest, its how it drives, and how well its been looked after. Also seen this 1 VAUXHALL VIVARO 2900 DTI SWB- WINDOW VAN 2004 - AIR CON - SAT NAV | eBay
I bought my current van off eBay but was lucky .Berlingo 05 reg with genuine 28k miles on the clock .it was a buy it now job and as I have no experience or even know what I would be listening to if I had my ear to the bonnet I just had to weigh up the description the photo copies showing milage against MOT tickets and the photos all round of the van . Paid went to pick it up from a haulage yard and it seems like it's been cherished and was a minter so gamble paid off and still chuffed with my little runabout .
Its a Berlingo my dad has at the moment mate. Decent little van to be honest. Just not big enough for the bike though.
My brother got a transit, we can fit two bikes in it easily. In my experience stay away from 07+ iveco as I've had two through work and had nothing but problems with them, now got a sprinter
Gearbox issues exist with the Vivaro, Traffic and Nissans......with certain years so be careful.....Ford all the way IMO parts are ten a penny and they go on forever....
Run a Vivaro myself and have had no real problems at all since it was new in 2005. Selling next year to buy the new one, however Mad Matt has first Dibs! I can get the Bike and all the Kit in whilst still retaining all my works Lin Bins and Roller Cabinet which sits behind the Drivers seat.
Pick this up on Tuesday. Should do me fine Vauxhall Vivaro Van kitted for racing | United Kingdom | Gumtree
Well for me after a year of sleeping in the back of my trailer I have bought a caravan which has been converted to carry a bike already it's a bit of a DIY job but something I will improve over the winter ,it's a great caravan though with a full galvanised Chassis reinforced floor and twin wheel which is rare for such a small caravan and drum brakes and only cost me £750 Here is a picture of when I got it A few hours later I have fitted a wheel chock in the van but fitted it so I can remove it quickly leaving just the base plate it also has 4 tie down anchor points.Really easy to put the bike in using a ramp probably 5-10 min job and bike goes directly over the wheels on the caravan.
i know come january we are getting rid of a 7 trannies from work. There all 11-12 plate, less than 100k , not sure of office trim level , but very high spec, aircon, heated seats, mirrors and screen, digital radio.... well you get the idea. all panther black and there all 150 t350. and usual go around the 5k mark,
Look around, I bought an 06 LWB Transit with 80K miles on the clock for 3K. You may need something bigger than SWB if you want to sleep in it and have room for all your kit
