    Unleaded or Super Unleaded???

Does anyone use the Super in their Blade.

I used to have a JDM Subaru Impreza that would only run on the stuff. What an expensive experience that was.

Never really considered using it in the Blade but thought I might considering the fact that I don't actually stick that much fuel in it.

My Audi S3 gave an extra 70miles a tank and also 2-3mpg extra using super. You totally miss noticing the benefits when pushing it everywhere but they are there and I think it's a cleaner more combustible fuel generally so should effectively be better ;)

I've spent years modifying turbo'd petrol cars and all the tuners generally agreed with the 97/98ron being better than the 95ron fuel but this really applied to the newer engines and cars that have been remapped.

When I have my dyno run on the 29th I will be mapping for 97ron fuelling so it will definitely make a difference for me. My S3 was mapped for Shell V power fuel specifically which was generally all I ran.

I guess there are probably convincing arguments in each case and all I can say is in all the years of running super unleaded fuel in petrol and diesel engines I have never had an issue and always returned better mileage using the higher ron fuel ;)

I will now shut up and get on with some work :D

On my current bike, I don't really care... just tend to fill with whatever is easiest, as it doesn't make any difference.

On my previous bike (929 blade) I always filled up with Super, as it was a touch more responsive... not a placebo effect, I owned that bike for 3 years and everytime I was forced to fill up with standard petrol, I could notice the difference.

To open this debate a little further, what about supermarket vs premium brand? A lot of the BMW enthusiasts I know insist on never filling up with supermarket fuel. The reason being (so they say) that the supermarkets cut costs by not adding the same amount of additives that premium brands (Shell/Esso) do. Many that I know say its better to buy "standard" Esso/Shell, than it is to buy "super" from Tesco.

Totally agree gappy! I had 3 tuners send letters out removing endorsements for Tesco and other supermarket fuels due to the above reasons...

Superbike mag done a whole dyno test with the 95 98+ fuels
And found in some cases bikes lost power when a higher ron was uses.
The said the higher ron detonated earlier and only high compression
Engines like dukes and turboed/ tunned could use this to there advantage
Where as other engines either gained nothing or even lost power.
Im near sure this was covered beforw and there was the article with
    The dyno maps.
