Which is the best oil to use in my RR6 2006.
Been looking at castrol but not sure which one is best. 10w 30 or 10w 40

I've been using 10w40 fully synthetic in my RR6, with no problems. Been doing a bit of research on this myself as need to do a oil/filter change at some point. Seems people on different forums have been favouring Castrol Power, Shell Advanced and Motul 7100.
Many people have said that Motul 300v is good, but because it's designed for track, needs to be replaced more frequently and if the bikes not pushed to the limits, it won't get the benefits.
So they favour the 7100 over the 300v.
Have a look on eBay, opieoils have got some good deals on.

I change the oil twice a season, using 300V. The Repsol sees track duty and very spirited street riding. I've never had an issue, 10,000 miles on.

I, and many others on here, swear by Opie oils. I buy both two stroke and 10 - 30 in bulk for a far better price than I can find elsewhere.

    I don't think honda used 10-30 till RR8; so I would go for 10-40
motul 300v do car competition range but although the brochure mentions track use, it is great for road use and doen'st go off or have a short life

Why do people use 10W 40?

I actually read the owners manual (the tiny booklet) ...and Honda recommend 10W 30.

Agree. My 2018 book recommends 10 - 30 whereas my 2004 booklet recommends 10 - 40. I suspect this is due to a shift in technology.

I will always defer to the Honda manual.

Your 2011 would probably say 10-30 but would bet your local Honda dealers would put 10-40 in it.
My 12 has only had 10-30 in it once as it drank most of it lol

After my first service I went to the Honda dealer to get some oil for topping up, they sold me 10w 40.

Hey all, sorry to harp on about this oil choice

I'm guessing no one opts for Semi synthetic.
