    Hi all!

I´m purchasing a new helmet. I will also buy a new visor for it, and as you know there are so many different colours and types out there. I have always had a dark smoke on my helmets, and it sucks when it´s geting dark. Are there any better options out there that cover both day and night riding?

    Cheers from Sweden!

Hi @Chelsea78 I use a Shark Vision-R Series 2 as standard it has a clear visor and secondary internal raise/lower tinted screen feature. Works great in my opinion and a bonus as I wear glasses

Dark visor always.......if I think I'm going to be out late I'll take a clear visor out with me in a visor carrier belt, but that is rare!;)

If you'r happy with the helmet your only option is to interchange visors. Other than that get a Lid with one of those internal sun visors that flip down. ;)

Agv don’t do that visor anymore, I’ve got a Bell with a transition visor haven’t been out with it yet so can’t tell you how dark or how quick it changes

Pinlock used to sell a photochromic insert that darkens in sunlight, not cheap but used to keep the police happy over here as it classed as secondary protection and so was legal.

On my Xlite I have a medium tint, marked for daylight use only, rather than not for road use. Don't know how that is impacted by Swedish law.

Apart from that I play the will it get dark game, and if not sure pit a clear visor in and wear sunglasses underneath.

Shoei nxr helmet with a shoei’s own transition visor, never carry a second visor for when it gets dark

I can give a big thumbs up for the Shoei GT Air. It has a flip down visor, it's absolutely fantastic. There is a GT Air 2 out now also.

A light smoke or tint - not too dark. Clear visor can make the helmet like a greenhouse if the sun comes out strong. A light smoke is enough to stop that and is still usable if it clouds over, and at a pinch maybe dark as well.

The Arai one is very good. Bought mine at the TT - they were recommended because riders can be riding fast and then diving into deep shade from full sun in your face. The TT course has to deal with a lot of light and shade variables and I was told the light smoke tint (probably the lightest) smoke/tint was the best.

Pinlock still make the chromatic insert, I use it during GMT, as soon as the evening lighten up I switch over to the dark visor (ARAI RX7V).

I mainly use a dark smoke visor on my gt air. I've got a clear one as well that I change to if I know I'm going to be out when it gets dark.
I keep looking at shoei's pinlock transition/chromatic insert, but can't justify paying the £130 for the visor or £50 for the insert.
