hi guys, just a quick one, keep getting finger pain whilst out on my 1000rr 05 think its a high pitch vibration thru grips, that high frequency i can only just feel it, any ideas? i do have a brake bind on front which should be sorted this week just putting it out here to see if anyone has had similar. cheers.
I got the same after a full day's riding a few weeks ago. Right hand, middle and ring finger went numb for a day or so afterwards. Put it down to it being my first ever full day on the bike since buying it - but could be wrong...
Try a Oxford cruise control clip on the throttle, found it a god send on my trip to Mugello recently, done 815 miles on the way home in one hit and hand ok, took it off n done a 190 mile round trip and hand started to ache again, make sure you don't set it too high up on the grip. Gives you a chance to move your hand about and not need to grip it so tightly either. Worth a try !!
Don't grip tight. And have you got aftermarket bar ends on, sometimes they're a hell of a lot lighter than OE spec ones and don't dampen vibes anywhere near as much.
Stupid question but you haven't got heated grips have you? They are larger in circumference and I found the same problem on a previous bike, so removed them Also Pete H's advise re gripping too tight I also found useful when advised in the past. Hold it like you have a bird in your hand, hold on just enough to not let the bird go, is the advise I was given. It worked for me
Adjust the lever positions, take a spanner out with you, adjust till you find a comfy position (obviously not on the hoof) Relax the grip on the bars, grip the tank with your knees, get some stomp grips on the tank Do your gloves fit right? they may be a tad too tight
What you are seeing is carpal tunnel syndrome .. and .. don't listen to doctors.. its fuck all to do with your wrists .. its caused by shoulder issues and posture and or obesity. Get off your bike ..stand up and windmill your arms round and round like Pete Townsend for a minute or two .. then ride on and see how it is
This was my hand at the ferry terminal at Hull last year, it was numb until the following morning. I`ll have to do the windmill on the dockside next week
Less grip on your handlebars, and squeeze your tank more with your legs. Helps with fatigue, and keeps you riding.
