Agreed. ACF-50 is good stuff if done right. allyearbiker.co.uk offer a mobile application service, look into that if you're running through the winter
No salt here yet, though local rag last week reported they had gritters out learning the route, not yet spraying.
Sam it's never cold where you are, try Northumberland/borders of Scotland, then you know what cold is.
nice sunny day today, lots of bikes out enjoying probably the last of the better weather, no salt but plenty of leaves to watch out for.
Park it up by the end of this month , salt is bad for every bit of the bike , especially the alooominum bits . after salt they ain't ever the same again . Don't ruin it and kick yourself . Did it years ago riding in winter , never again
This must be a Northern thing. I rode on the dry days last winter, don't remember any salt on the roads and my Yam was none the worse for it. Plenty of rain in between so maybe it all washed off. This far down south they only spend money (grit) when it's absolutely necessary and then only the major roads. I'm one of those who cleans the bike after every ride though...can't stand it otherwise...
Yeah it is a must to clean it after every ride if not protected with AFC-50 or some such like but it shouldn;t stop us riding in Winter
Dont understand people not riding it winter (unless snow and icy of course!) Just take it easy and ride to the conditions. You'll learn plenty more too which will give you more confidence for the next year. As above though, cover the metal bits with ACF-50 or the like and give it a good rinse after your rides. Other than that, get out and enjoy riding.
