OK first time out in days and we went to the travel agents. I want to book my holiday for next year I was looking at 4-5 star places and was looking at Crete but the woman in the travel agents suggested Cancun. Not stupid hot in July when we was looking at going and cheaper than the place we had in mind in Crete. So anyone been? any suggested trips to do? hotles to look at? and the big benefit is it flys from Bristol. only downside is possible storms in July So tell me more?
A bit of a shithole, truth be told mate. Can't go out, drug runners everywhere, poor sanitation and the locals are horrible. Everyone i know who has been there said the same. Only jokin mate, never been, but believe it's ok!

Not been myself yet but Ling's sister lives’ about 45 minutes away from Cancun. She quit the rat race of the London’s 'square mile', sold the house over looking the Thames and tower bridge, took the money and buggered off to the sunshine, brought a run down Hacienda a restored it to it forma glory. She rents out the whole hacienda to well heeled yanks for weddings etc but also has a smaller gate house for holiday accommodation rental. Not been before but going Akumal in August, It's about 2 hour drive south of Cancun. When doing a bit of research it was cheeper than Dom Rep and better food and accommodation than Cuba, For the price.
Been to the riviera maya (down the coast about 60 miles from cancun) the last 2 years and heading back there next year for 3 weeks, we stay at the gran bahia principe and love it. You can't go wrong with mexico i fooking love it. Also tulum beach is truly stunning, will post a couple of pics when i get home from work. Tom, Akumal is stunning the snorkeling is amazing, Akumal beach is about 10 mins from the bahia principe resort. I wouldn''t stay in Cancun it's not as nice as down the coast.
Hay up Dave, I was looking at that hotel too! We're going to the Sirenis, seems to get a good write up. I've been doing a bit of reading about the place and your right the snorkelling is meant to be top notch.
Avoid central Cancun its a bit wild full of kids sniffed out there minds Riviera Maya is great. Been twice now dont think I'd go again
That's right ken matt we went to moon palace and I couldn't recommend it enough! We had a fantastic time it's pricey mind , really big place but well worth it. if you want anymore info pm me.
I am going on the 1st july for 3 weeks, i totally love the place and can't see me holidaying anywhere else so relaxing. As for trips, it's worth going to Xcaret thats a good day out and the show at night is worth seeing the ruins at coba are also worth a visit and this is the only Mayian pyramid you can still climb. We also did the captain hook trip which was a great night the only bad thing was i ended up very very drunk and didn't feel so good when we went over to Cozumel for some snorkeling.
