hi ....i convert the bike on a track bike so i am with out fans for the radiator ...the bike always used to be overheating (ofc inside the town) and since the bike rolls in greece the tempratures are quite higher than here ,os its kind understundable ...
the problem is all our racing bikes in my team keep theyr tempratures around 100C (our tracks are small)
so as a cheap mod i though of using the radiator from a 06-07 1000 to my 08 1000 ...has anyone else done this ??
i mean the holes are the same (exept the right side but thats easy fixable with a longer silicon tube )
my consern is that couse of the radiator is biger than mine(thats the reason for chaging it ) might have problem with the headers ....i will post some pictures to saw what i mean

    this is my curent headers

you could try a bigger psi rad cap,or put a piggy back mini rad on the back of the o/e.works well, not as good as big race rad,but not as expensive either.

the price is not the issue since i have a local store willing to make a trade with no money (i will give him mine 08 and he will give me a 06) the question is if anyone knows about it couse i though i saw some ppl on a forum have a difrent radiator than mine with the same exact rad cap as a 06 but i dint ask what was that so i guess someone already did it probobly the race guys from here will know the answer

sorry just read about the 06 rad.it' doesn't fit as the pipe work is quite different,i know as i have a big race rad off my 07 bike, had a look to see if we could work it onto the 08 but a bit to much extra pipe work invovled.

i think the cap difference your seeing is a 1.5bar cap (the 08 is 1.1) so higher pressure in the system= higher boiling point.

dunno what rad you looking at but mine has very different outlets to the 08+.it's is a hand made TT rad though so who knows could be different to stock.

as for the cap, have a look on top of your rad cap.it should say 1.1 bar (or at least 1.1),putting a higher rated cap on i.e. 1.5+ will allow the water to get hotter beofre it boils, wont effect the runing temp as such but will stop it boiling over as much.
