10Nm is more than you can get with a hand I've tried, and I've got pretty strong hands or so I thought lol.... Oil Free? You mean you don't oil the seal?
Oil the seal, clean the seat, give it a good nip by hand, don't go mad. It'll be fine. Run it for a while if your not confident. If it's not leaking your good. Mike.
I always tighten mine by hand. It's pretty hard to mess it up I'd say. Don't go wrenching on it like you're trying to put it on there permanently.
You can spot a mech who knows what he's doing when he uses a small hand sized ratchet for this job. I just don't have either the rather or the tool. So by hand it is... Getting the ones that's on there off.. Is gonna be tough
As in, not oily hands lol. A good dry grip is plenty in my experience. But I change my filter every 100-200 miles anyway.
My mate does his by hand, then when his bike was warming up on his nice drive the filter fell off and dumped three and a half litres of hot black oil in about 3 seconds flat. Filter cup and a 3/8 ratchet for me thanks . I'd rather it be a little tighter and not come undone at speed.
By hand on both bike and car, as previously mentioned apply a big of oil to the new seal and tighten as tight as I can and never had an issue ..... yet lol
I used a torque wrench last time. Much better then my old technique of "up to shear and back a quarter"

Whats up with these people? I wrap a piece of sandpaper round for good grip, and tighten if up, takes a load of force to take it off again when i next change it, it wont "drop off" for sure
