I had a bit of a list to do, nothing particularly big, but none the less they needed doing.
I started with replacing my radiator (rr5). The one on the bike was well past it’s best with poor cooling capacity due to the fins being blocked and distorted and it’s paint was now flaking of in big sheets.
My replacement had been in the garage for some time (sourced from m n p South Wales important) and when I eventually got the old one out, things went pear shaped as usual for me. The 3 locating positions for the fan didn’t line up, well one did, but not really a good start and the top inlet looked suspicious. Got it on….. bottom hose perfect but now the fan won’t turn. Off with the rad to re-do the fan. Back on. Fan turned lovely but now that top hose entry looks waaaay out. Having a great time with this lol.
The radiator cap was nowhere near where I needed it and you’re probably thinking why didn’t I just return it to mnp’s. Thing is, if a gnat touched on of these fins it would cave in so the minimal handling and the in and out had already marked it enough for there to be an argument at the counter and besides, I’m capable of some outside the box thinking and sure, yeah I can do it somehow !?
Got it on, fired her up, up to temps a couple of times with fan doing its job and all good no leaks. Happy days fairing on and then get new discs and pads done.
The fairing on mine is tight, really tight and I hate playing with it. What I forgot to do first was install the radiator guard. Realising my mistake at the end, I thought, once again, doesn’t matter I’ll get it on. Nope. Did my best but just couldn’t do it. After a while I realised that the bottom two tangs to locate the screen didn’t line up. Only by about 5mm but that was enough to stop it going on. So….. top was different, bottom didn’t work either. Not really a good replacement radiator really. I know it’s not genuine and a bit of fettling might be needed but not this much.
So new discs installed up front, new set of EBC’s and out for a spin today to check it all out.
All good. First time I’ve ridden her since October and enjoyed it massively. She had an oil change during all this and now sounds nice, stays cool and stops like she should.
Bit of a chore, but worth the work in the end !!

Result yes, but when you said sourced from m n p South Wales important I was expecting you’d taken the rad back and they’d either told you tough, should have brought it back straight away, or apologised for sending you an incorrect part, replaced it and given you a gift voucher :D:D

I didn’t explain it well sorry… I just thought that if anyone else was going to source a replacement rad’ they should be aware.

Might be they supplied you the RR6/7 one? I tried fitting an rr5 fan on my 2007 and the fixings were out. I too had replaced my rad with a Chinese one - think it was £95 delivered! Little bit of fettling, but fitted well and has lasted 3 years already
