I run a Nissan Navara and recently the radio stopped working. I initially thought it may be a blown fuse for the speakers but I plugged my iPhone in and it played music so wasn't that. After moving the ariel about hoping it was a loose connection, I gave up and booked in into the main dealer. Apparently it requires a new head unit, even though the sat nav, DVD, hand free and iPhone all work. The price for the new head unit? £9876 inc VAT. Fortunately it's under warranty.....
they much be taking the mick with that amount. How many people would pay for for a head unit than a car if it was out of warranty
That's what a mate said who also runs a Navara, he called another dealer and they confirmed the price. Don't forget it would be PLUS fitting if out of warranty!
Hell thats a lot of money. I carnt get over it . I know we charge a fair wack in vw land but thats just mad.
That's gotta be a typo surely!? Maybe an error on the parts system that all dealers have access to? I had a problem with the radio on our previous Seat Altea where it used to turn itself on, even if the car was locked and not running. Freaked me out - we could hear music from inside the house late at night and thought "which ignorant fecker has got their car radio blaring at this time of night!?". Went outside and found out it was ours lol! It kept doing it regularly, so we had the head unit swapped under warranty - £1200 inc vat!
Not a typo! The guy I know who works at the dealership asked me how much I thought it was and I said about £300, at which the parts guy laughed. He then told me it was £8200. My response was the same as everyone else, including a mate who then called another dealer who told him it was £8230 PLUS VAT! £9876 Crazy I know, but thankfully under warranty.
how it can it that price just for the head unit that's got to be 30% of the whole car price? is it some special edition or what?
I'm still shaking my head myself which is why I posted it here. Yes the car was about £33k so about a third of the vehicle to replace this unit??! It's the standard unit if you have sat nav, reversing camera etc. I'd be cheaper leaving it alone and driving around with U2 in the back of the pick up for an hour if it was out of warranty lol
