I've just changes the plugs on my RR5 (17k miles) after it started to sound very agricultural. 3 plugs fine, one plug covered in dirty oil. So I'm assuming the worst but here's the interesting bit. The bike has always burnt a lot of oil and in stripping things down I noticed oil weeping from the exhaust port with the dodgy plug. Not a lot but enough to make a regular smell. Exhaust clamps have now been retightened although they seemed ok. My question is - could the problem with the exhaust clamp be causing the plug problem. Should I get a new exhaust port gasket ? Or could the problem with the cylinder but causing the exhaust port problem?

Should have done a compression test when doing the plugs to see if that cylinder is low maybe?
