Just done our 5th gig and it was an absolute nightmare!! I play lead been playin guitar 2 years and couldnt hear a thing i was playing. Practice sounded awesome last time but everytime we gig i just mess up! Put me on a bike and tell me to wheelie in front of a big crowd and id love it. Any tips from you guys who play instruments or who are in a band??

dont play an instrument but have been around bands and played big gigs Djing
as well as done a bit of radio(which was more stressful).
I found that some gigs I done had really bad monitors and it was very easy to
miss audio que's and match rhythms which is why I invested in a good earphone.
westone earphones are really good and I didnt have to worry about how good or
bad the events sound system was as it was crystal clear sound.also helps switch
off and concentrate on what you are doing which helped me as doing a new big
gig used to get me nervous as hell, felt like I was going to have a heart attack lol.

they have many versions right up to really expensive custom ones
I went with universal ones and they worked fine.I preferred them
as you could switch off to what was going on around you, a bit
like when you listen to music on a train/bus.

If you play well outside of gigs then its probably more
poor feedback sound an nerves. that happens some
of the biggest dj's out there.do a venue with a poor
sound system and the mixing goes out the window.people
leave wondering why this radio DJ is so cr@p live lol.

Don't give it up YT, it will come. Just spend time soundchecking before you play. I have been playing sax semi professionally for about 20 years now and went through the stage you are at. Stick with it and get a good fallback system in place so you can hear what you are playing yourself. If you can't hear what you and the rest of the band is doing, it is hard work. Stick at it though!
