I posted on here the other day about a traffic stop I had. Wish i'd known this... Deferring a vehicle test - Law: England & Wales - PoliceSpecials.com Forum
The law is an open book that anyone can read n use to insure that you r treated fairly n within the rules n regs of the law, However unless its summat you deal with, in ur daily job etc, then ur not gonna remember the ins n outs n orob get made to look silly by a well trained, clued up traffic cop. In 10 yrs of riding i been stopped twice, 1st time just a routine check, all in order n sent on me way, 2nd time, the cop had come from a fatal RTA ( 2 fallen bikers ) n he wasnt happy me coming round a bend at full pelt or lean, so he vented his emotions n i stood there n let him ger on with it, once he'd blown his top, he chilled out n again i was sent on me way, on this occassion ( imo ) if i had started to object to wot he was saying he prob wud have done me for black visor, small plate n anything else he cud do, so moral of the story is by all means get clued up on law, n if u really want buy a copy of the traffic officers handbook off amazon, however sum days its best to keep quite, take a bollocking n b on ur way
Fair enough mate but I know that I'd rather take the deferred test approach and save myself a load of fines.
For the above reason I spent £1 on a number plate reflector today to attach to the huge legal plate, it just avoids fines, being tugged and may put the copper in a good mood to let you off other things you may have done...
True n i agree, but if i was traffic cop that was dealing with you, id make sure i do a contemporary interview with u before letting you go, ( this is an interview, where everything is written down n then signed by u n the cop ) detailing everything that i stopped you for n the issues with ur bike n then report you for them issues, so a day in court with the mags deciding if it was ok for ur small plate n loud can
