Picking up a 2010 on friday fitted with a R77 carbon slip on I love the look of it but it's way too loud for me, have asked Honda to put original back on. Just read Repsol Rob sold one recently and he mentions a baffle/db muffler. Any ideas if I can fit one/buy one and would it then pass an MOT? Otherwise watch out for one for sale this friday!
There is a baffle for this model, they might have it if not get them to order you one , and it will !! help quieten it up for you, The std system weighs in at just under 2 tons so If you can get the baffle and enjoy the very slightly louder Yoshi can and it looks so much better than the std can !
R-77 Replacement Mufflers and Parts Bottom of the page shows an insert for unto 10db reduction! Answering my own question, got to be worth a try.
To loud?? Are U a girl!!!!!! Get the baffle and keep the yoshi! The standard one is so heavy they must have made it out of cast iron!!
Not loud at all, compared to my Zard on my Speed triple. I run without baffles and never had a issue in the past year. yes it will be loud if you rev it up but as I said I don't think it's loud compared to other exhausts
Im sure megawatt could make a db killer for it........ dont get rid its a far better looking pipe than standard......
Megawatt's exhaust mods are superb as he tempers the metal with blood sacrifices to harden them and to ward off evil VOSA inspectors.
I have a R77 Yoshi.. I have never fitted the Baffle..... not too loud at all... sounds fecking ace!! I have got the baffle if you need one? Jay
Thanks for the offer Jay, but problem now solved. I called into Blackpool Honda and they rang the previous owner, he's got the baffle and will drop it off. Carbon can is staying on
Hi Vino. I tested a standard '06 and then a 2012, and fell in love with the new model. Then a 'nameless salesman' at Blackpool wheels a '10 with a r77 pipe on, through the showroom and "allegedly" takes it for a quick blast in front of the dealership to let me hear the exhaust note. OK from here it isn't as loud as I thought. So back again the next day to take it out for a test. I love the growl but I find it too loud and it just isn't me. Each to their own. I'm happy now, if the baffle keeps the sound but drops the volume, I get the best of both worlds a growl and a beautiful carbon can. Happy days.
The baffle does quieten it down loads, probably about the same as the standard can with the rear flapper mod. But, when i wear earplugs, the can without the baffle sounds quieter than with the baffle in without ear plugs. Strange but true......
Never too loud wait until your out on a nice stretch of road and the popping and cracking on down shift happens, makes me laugh like a hyena with helium.
Wish my akrapovic popped and banged on down shifts, i have no baffle fitted just right for me not stupid loud like my mate with a racefit growler lol lol It must be a truimph thing with loud cans twin arrows on my STR used to make my ears bleed lol
Smile won't wipe off my face tonight, I picked up the bike yesterday but only managed the 6 mile ride home before having to leave the bike in the garage and go into work on my day off (joys of being self-employed), spent the afternoon literally in sh1te, clearing 2 blockages in 1 drain. So after work today got to play for the first time on the new bike. It was everything and more that I hoped it would be. I'd have ridden until dark if I was fit enough but my arms and neck were hurting just hanging onto the bike, I'm just not used to such brutal acceleration. The sound of the r77 carbon can is sublime, the insert keeps the level sane when I need to sensible but the sound when I let rip is a banshee howl of pure joy. So many thanks to all who posted, I'm so glad I listened to you guys on here and didn't put the standard can back on.
Glad you listened, it's a fantastic sound glad you love it and hope you get some more time in the saddle real soon
