Well after my BIL painted by track fairing the first time the clear coat was cold or something and the paint went a little pink'sh instead of Lambo Orange. So After a recommendation of getting Lumo paint from http://www.specialistpaints.com/products/luminous-paint I bought a few weeks ago the Lumo Yellow and as I had this week off Spent some time flatting back the old paint. and had a go myself at paint 2k lump onto my track fairing. Here are the results.
What can I say. Well pleased with the outcome. it's not perfect but for something I did in my garage on my own and first time doing it i'm pleased as it came out bloody well AND ITS BLOODY BRIGHT
I painted our track bike in the garden shed using 2k paint from local automotive paint supply store! Bike as we picked it up. Base coat colours done. Clear coat applied. Side fairing and tank cover with base coat and decals applied then clear coat on top sealing them on. Bike all built back up reading for testing. First outing at donington. Another outing at cadders.
Started spraying a bit too but on a much smaller scale, helmets etc, just getting my hand in at the mo. Using water based paints but have not got to the clear coat yet. Noticed you used 2k, I've got extractors with filters, suit, full mask respirator(en140:1998 spec) but afaik you should be using air fed respirators. Wondering if this was sufficient or should I just get a pro to do it?
i think your thinking to much about it I use https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/tradesman2-twin-respirator?da=1&TC=SRC-respirator Anything is better than nothing. I will be looking into getting a full face soon. If your spraying day in day out then by all means get the works. if your only going to be doing it like one a few times a year at best then a face mask and filter is more than enough
cheers I love it. going to take it on the road tomorrow just before I load up the bike to go to Brands.
