I've just fitted 190/55 Dunlop gp212 Pro, and I'm really impressed. The only downside is the rear is catching very slightly an the underside of the hugger, but nothing a washer or two wouldn't fix
Yeah, mine too, you can just see the small dark patch on the underside of the Hugger where it's 'Kissing' the underside probably due to expansion at Ton + speeds!! Pic was taken 50 miles after initial fitment hence the Chicken Strips! Can't be arsed to remedy it as it's so slight!
I had the DRC's on my blade when I bought it, I've got Roadsmarts 2s on it now and honestly the grip between the two is negligable on the road. You can still get the KD easily on the sport touring tyres and they last so much longer, if you ride regularly or commute, go for sport touring tyres. The DRC's are good if you're a very spirited weekend rider in the twisties but honestly I'd say try the roadsmart 2s for the road riding, they are much more inspiring in the wet than the DRC's were...
I don't ride in the wet tyke I have real respect for my bike.... That and I know it's not getting a fairing off clean every couple of weeks
Definitely go with the 55, faster turn in and better grip. I can't see any negatives for having he higher profile. I'm running a 200 which makes a massive difference.
Indeed I am, on the road mate. I checked with Pirelli before I bought them cos I run supercorsas and they no longer make them in a 190 and didn't wanna drop to a 180. Went straight on, still plenty of room and handles brilliantly.
200/55/zr17 Rear Road and Track Tyre Original Equipment on the Ducati Panigale, the new SP Version 2 Diablo Supercorsa features the same tread design used in the 2012 World Superstock 1000 championship. High modulus fiber carcass offers a lower deformation ratio and makes the entire structure stiffer to allow a better synergy between compounds and tire carcass. Single Element Tread Pattern permits a 24% larger slick shoulder area (vs. previous Diablo Supercorsa), increasing contact area and grip and wear regularity. New compounds offer great balance of mileage and grip in an ultra-high-performance product. Rear tire uses Pirelli's patented EPT (enhanced patch technology) matched with a tri-zone compound that helps optimize the contact patch for improved grip and handling.(W)-rated for speeds of 168+ MPH OE for Ducati 1199 Panigale & Aprilia RSV4 Spose it'll do for me little owd Blade eh?
Does the 10mm extra ride hight on the rear make much of a difference? Thinking of trying the 55 profile myself, Will tyre warmers still fit under the standard 05 hugger? Get some pics up Mekanix please
Just remember the 55 isn't a dimension as such, but a percentage of the width. So a 200 55 has a diameter 30mm bigger than the standard fitment. That's assuming the width of the rim allows the correct profile when inflated. At least that's my understanding. I'm running 190 55 which has a diameter 19mm bigger than standard. I like it but many cant feel the difference other than taller seat height.
Can you actually feel the extra 9.5mm increase in ride hight? Does that hight at the back upset the geometry at all?
