interested to know how you are getting on with the front stand. Did they charge for delivery (didn't see any mention of it on their site!)
Hi Bonj! No delivery charge because of value ordered. Erm, front stand is a long story. I haven't used it, or at least I haven't been able to use it. My front drive is on a slight downward angle with no level area. There is no problem, of course, with using the rear stand with the bike facing 'uphill'. But when I attempted to use the front stand the lift felt a bit unstable. Part of this is the angle, the other part is that the driveway is brick paved, so the stand's wheels won't roll in a smooth action. The remedy is to slide a thin sheet of plywood under the wheel so the stand can roll freely. But I have not done that. Sorry I can't help with positive news. Compounding the problem is that I live on my own, so there's no available second-person assistance available. I had intended to throw a 'residential offer' to esteemed member @ Lozzy, but with all the benefits of living with moi, the deal-breaker would be that there's no room for her bike!!
thanks nige. I can fully understand the issues of non horizontal and non smooth surfaces for paddock stands. I gather putting the front on a stand is a wobbly affair to start with! BTW If you have an abba stand, most of the weight is off the front tyre; they also do a front lift adapter for it.
I brought the same stands and the rear is perfect but the front is easy to do but it does feel a bit wobberly when on it and I am not sure if it looks like it’s twisting.
Thinking of getting a front clamp stand like the one inSelmer50mark picture but what I want to know is what size pin fits the blade? And can I take the front wheel out without removing the brake callipers?
got this from ghostbikes.com , based in Preston, it came with a selection of pins , just under £50 .I did have to bend the horn bracket up a bit on my RR7 to clear the top section . No you can't take out the wheel without removing the brake callipers. don't take this the wrong way but you need to lift the rear first with a stand , I've seen people try to lift just the front
@Selmer50mark Thanks for that I have read about having the rear stand on and m and p have got them for £40 but I just wondered if the pins where the right size Thanks
Comes with 13 mm 15 mm 16.5 mm 17 mm 18 mm without looking I can't remember what I use , but one of them is the right fit for an RR7 , i will check it out tomorrow and let ya know . The adjustable height is handy too
Cheers for that But now I know you still have to remove the callipers I’m not sure if I need one On my VTR I did pull the thread on one of my callipers so my mate heli coiled it and I had no more problems but thats the reason I did not want to remove the callipers
