They're very good road tyres wet grip is good too obviously not as good as competition tyres on a track but a bit cheaper than the new designs
I have a D212 Ntec rear on my bike now. I put it on near the end of last season, and had a few track days on it. Now I use it on the street. I'm happy with it both ways. My "love affair" with these Dunlops started with the D211 front. I got a second-hand one, when I needed a quick spare. I've been using only those ever since. It's phenomenal! Endless grip, even if I screw up, and at the same time they last forever (compared to their nature). This made me try the D211 rear. Now, that's a different animal. There are so many of them. Maybe 6 different compounds, and they're really sensitive to temp and track surface. Grip is always way more than I can use, but if you screw up your choice of compound, they tear horribly. Then, I was told to try the GP212 Medium/Hard rear (8854 then, maybe it's different now). That's cool! No fuss about track temp/surface. It's a one-size-fits-all choice. I hear that the other compounds are still sensitive. That's my 2 cents.
I have just been through a set of Sportsmarts on my 08 blade. Unbelievable tyre!! Lasted about 2 months, 3000 miles, amazing grip and that consisted of commuting and hard weekend riding! They didn't even square off! Best tyre I have ever had.
Ok I got round to trying the D212pro, these are the french made (not uk hand builds) but agree they have loads of grip, was impressed, they are soft front (2) and Meduim hard rear/ (4) put 31psi front off the track, and 24psi rear off the track (22 out the warmers, and 19 cold) not sure about how long they will last, so not sure whether to swap back to my Pirelli Rosso 2 road tyres until next day (guy only charges £24 a pair to change) here is a pic after 60 mins iin track (3x 20mins sessions) does that wear look about right?
Tire wear looks spot on, which means that the rear shock has been set up correctly. I'm currently running D211 with endurance compound. Not sure whether to go for another set of D211 or try the D212, currently mostly use the bike on road
Just thinking about that today as the rear is getting low. From memory done around 2,600miles including a track day at Rockingham
Anyone tried the Conti Race Attacks? Got a mate who had the sport attack 2 on his Aprillia and they gave good enough grip for the odd track day and decent wear rate. Been using Rosso corsa's for the last two sets of tyres and think it's time for a change. 80% road- 20% track
I've used bridgestone bt016 021 michelin 2ct power and power cup and racetech I'm now an m7rr convert good wear good on the track and the road ticks all the boxes for me
I just done donnington on a set of d212, not a squirm, I'm not fast but not shy and found them very grippy
Just ordered a set of bridgestone R10 med compound for £140 off tyre leader they are selling off the 2012 made tyres
Just put a set of Supercorsa SP V2 and make few miles. I really love them, handling and gripping perfect ..... Just wait to see how much Kms wit them..... lol, but it doesn't matters, it just fabulous !
If your from somerset you could always use the new tyre there making from cheese and wool apparently there good for tractors as well
I still highly recommend the michelin power cups. I'm racing on them this year. (Pirelli wets as they were only £120 and some old metzler scrubs also in the pic)
Let us know how u get on with them. I fancy trying those out on the track bike but in the softer compound.
i think i ll mount them next month, the Sp will be dead and i have a trackday on the Castellet track with V2 SC2.
