RR7 track bike build

Exactly this. Stock one is not visible to me when all hell is breaking loose on the track, the Healtech one has a lot of adjustability and very bright. Idea is to be able to see it in my peripheral without needing to take my eyes off the track.

 

It does have three levels of brightness but I didn't find it grabbed the attention enough.

 

Update

Had a small amount of oil weeping from engine covers around the rubber grommets for crank sensor and stator. Removed the cases to re-gasket





Stator rubber was knackered so replaced with new stator.

Cases were a little worn so decided to have them Cerekoted as a bit of experiment. They turned out well.

Some light pitting but to be expected given the age.

Re-fitted, now just waiting for gasket to go off and will test for good seal

 

New chain and front sprocket today in prep for first euro Trackday of the year Almeria in April. First time changing a chain, was pretty simple, glad I invested in a half decent chain tool vs cheap Chinese which I don't think would have been up to the job. Stuck with stock length 114 link which is at its max as ive gone +2 on the rear sprocket.

Chain: DID 530 x 114 ZVM SUPER HEAVY DUTY GOLD X-Ring
Sprocket: JTF333 Rubber Cushioned 16T

Yes, paint is an Audi nardo grey, sprayed with air compressor and gun.

 

I used stickers from this company for my Zx9r build and they’re good quality.

 

After fitting the new sprocket and chain I wasn't happy with the lack of chain adjustment. Stock chain length (114) with +2 (44t) rear put the chain adjustment at its limit. I was already having to fight with the bike to keep the front end down under hard acceleration on the old chain and figured with the now even shorter wheel base this would have made things worse.

Bought some additional links from Dennis Trollope race spares to extend the chain.

Finally got onto a European track day and just come back from 4 days on Almeria. Absolutely fantastic time and while I struggled to keep up with the some of the newer bikes I did set a 1:53 which I was really pleased with. Hopefully get back there again later this year.It was organised through Focused Events who I would highly recommend.

Bike performed really well but did blow a fork seal so will need to get that patched up. Next on my shopping list is a slipper clutch and some upgraded suspension..
