Not sure if blue is worth more then red / purple..but I struggled to sell my rr5 with 15k with extras for £3700..

    Good luck with the sale..

02-03 & 04-07 are both great models, just different. The later ones obviously have more modern components, but in the real world, they don't really feel that different.

I've had another idea, funds and my current bike and the need to trade it in are holding me back. Selling mine at this Tom of the yr I'll get bugger all for it so instead I'm thinking about picking up a 98 model off eBay for about £1000, keeping my other bike and riding the blade for a few months to get used to the additional grunt etc, wait til next spring, sell my 600 and trade the blade for a newer model, could be the way forward or realistically I'll be waiting until next year anyway.

I loved my 2 98 & 1 99 blades. A bike from when things were slightly less complicated and possibly more fun.

954 02 / 03 is last of the sensible 'touring blades' and people know it and hold onto them, there is demand they can fetch good money.

    the 04 / 05 was much improved for 06 / 07

really tough call - webuyanybike.com will take your current bike but give you peanuts - or ebay it at a very sensible 'buy it now' price and hope it goes and get the 954 with 6,000 miles on clock?

BTW, the 98 or 99 models can tankslap severely if riding hard on imperfect roads with no steering damper! Be ready for it if you get one.

Goalposts moved again but I think I'm pretty much sold now and this is the final plan of action, I'm going to buy a cheaper, more "unloved" model, set a budget of about a grand, spend the next 6-12 months bringing it back to former glory, you know, cleaning, polishing, stripping etc, clean/refurb/replace carbs, strip engine if necessary and continue riding the Yam600 for now. Get the blade back on the road and then see where I am funds wise. It's gonna be a massive undertaking for me as I've never done something remotely like this before but I figure with a bit of patience, a Haynes manual and some assistance from you chaps should be a fun project to get me through the cold winter nights while the wife snoozes in front of the X-Factor. Already started looking on eBay and the bargains are starting to pop out. Do you chaps think this kind of undertaking is worthwhile?

I think it'd be something just for me, taking a piece of the proverbial and turning it into a minter, not to make any money just for the practise, the satisfaction and as a basis for working on bikes in the future, I do like tinkering :)
