Jason!! That's a bloody revelation mate - well done!! You'll love it, but your wrong about the bucket list, bucket list you do once and tick off, 100% certain you'll be going next year you'll have a blast! Can leave trailer at mine if you want but still a few hours ride to Portsmouth, but then it's close to brands for your return.... Let me know mate. WHAT'S THE NEW BIKE!!!???
Great news Jason but why not just ride to Portsmouth? From where you are a tank of juice and 2.5 hours to Oxford services on A34 then about 90 mins to port. Dinner at premiere inn place by entrance, fuel up and roll onto boat an hour before it sails. The time for dinner is your buffer zone incase of delays.
All does have a point... man up!! about to embark on a euro adventure.... personally i'd skip dinner and hit tiger tiger on the waterfront lol.... know you'll be rolling off the boat then heading straight to kent for a trackday, but if you dont fancy riding home after that, you can always leave the new bike at mine - i'll keep it safe for you...
Two revelations in one post eh Jason, joining the trip and a new bike To be fair, Jason was the very first person to show interest and to post after I had put this idea up 'post 2' It will be great to have you along Jason, I'm sure notsogreen won't mind me saying? He messaged me yesterday afternoon to inform me his circumstances have changed with work and could no longer make the trip, then Jason pops up, how strange is that? We will get a meet up arranged one evening/day a couple of weeks time so we can sit around a table and have a chat about what you need and what to take. Hmm, makes you wonder if anyone else will pop up into the mix yet?
I think my main reason for wanting to drive was on my return I am heading for Brandshatch for a track day so if I can get my track bike there i will have all my other stuff in my trailer wets etc plus I might head straight back after track day and didn't fancy the ride home after a full day on track.
Jason, you once asked me how I got away with doing so many things on the bike........have you got divorced recently? Welcome aboard dude! We're gonna have a blast! Just waiting for Al to reconsider!
Just found this on YouTube, gives an idea of your first couple of days. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtXBjjqAhVY&feature=youtube_gdata_player I see the dudes even been kind enough to put names to places too, just incase you see anything you fancy a look at? Oh, and you may want to turn the volume down, the sounds repetitive to say the least
Steve - stop it (Al looks at work telephony deployment schedule again for opportunities to hit the peage...)
Spent an hour this morning on the lap top trying to build a comprehensive check list "work in progress" we discussed this the other day, trying to cut down on luggage etc what we can share etc. I'll post it up when done, a few eagle eyes cast over it never harmed anyone, then the next thing we need is to have a meet up somewhere so we can compare notes. Logistically it won't be too bad, seeing as we're all within a 45 minute drive. Did anyone mention 25 more sleeps to go
Sounds good let me know when your thinking . Sorted out AA European breakdown. Got a bagster tank cover to protect my tank as the paintwork on my blades tank got damaged on the Scotland trip with waterproofs rubbing on it . Going to get the Tom Tom European ap for my I phone is it any good ? Can't wait for the trip
What age is your bike Jason to need cover? You need an app that works without needing a data connection - data costs still terrible when you roam. I know I have a list somewhere of what to take, end of day huge supermarkets in Europe. I need to set you three your 10 Top Gear style photo challenges that you should aim to complete.
Cheers any information/ lists you can offer would be a great help as this is my first trip a am a bit clueless on what's needed etc.
Up to 2011 bmw is a 2 year warranty , 2012 onwards is now 3 years.it does have an extended bmw gold warranty though but don't think that would cover it for Europe . Ha ha having read you post again you asked about what age is it for needing cover I thought you were on about the tank cover . Numpty award to me .lol
This is the reason we're gonna have a get-together Jason, you forget I'm a European veteran! Might just persuade Al to pop along too for when he changes his mind about coming!
well just had a good read of the extended bmw warranty i got with the new bike and it does cover me for breakdown/warranty in europe plus i get a loan bike if needed as long as i use a bmw dealer or approved dealer,so at least i am well covered with having the AA one as well.
