Google(aka NSA) do an app for Android called Tracks, peeps at home could even track you in real time (also Chad in NSA Hawaii office)
Well as mentioned / rumoured / guessed I think I have worked out a way to join this trip - not 100% as I have 2 big deployments the week either side and I need to get the time off but the temptation of a week in the Pyrenees in the 30+ temperatures was too much to let go. If anyone has been tempted to join but understandably daunted at the 17 days or high cost / time of the long Ferry to Spain this alternative could work. Friday 13th September Book the 08:15 crossing from Portsmouth to Caen which is currently £69 (I may be able to get that reduced) On arrival at 15:00 local time in France (remember the clocks go forward) subject to weather I'd try and get this chunk of France squared off using motorway to stop about 19:00 I won't book a hotel but locate an Ibis / Etap / Formula1 etc. Saturday 14th September Get a good start (on road 09:00 latest) and take D roads avoiding tolls down to the Pyrenees to join Gary / Steve / Jason whereever they have booked - meeting on the day is just a pain, far easier to say 'see you in the bar for a beer' The miles are about 250 on the Friday evening then it will be about 300 - 350 depending on where the others are for the Saturday - this is quite possible with a good start and not taking hours for lunch / morning coffee etc. If weather is bad its divert to the motorway, pay the tolls and dry out on arrival Return trip With no plan in place I won't know where I will be at the end of the following week - I'll take ferry timetable and phone numbers and strike for most suitable - be if mid channel crossing, Dieppe or Calais. I have to be back Sunday the following week. As for costs its hard to tell with no pre-booked / costed accom. All depends on what is decided upon but a 'rough estimate' of £1,000 wont be far off inc. set of tyres. If anyone is a 'possible' drop me a PM if they would rather get some details and think about it before committing.
Sounds tempting Al, think I may join you myself Just had our weekly chat between Steve and myself. We're planning on getting together next week and chew the fat. Just need a day and a central location sorting for this to go ahead. At this rate though, San Sebastian looks favourite

Evening avids, I feel such a Fcukin plum. Just been playing with GPS coordinates, you know, entering numbers instead of named places. Gets you to places a little way off the beaten track. After two attempts, of entering the old tomtom it went to slovakia. I have since had a lesson via another source by Al's good mate Chris on FB I blame my job of course for getting it wrong. We simply work North South East and West track, which is what I'm tuned to doing. Fortunately I've since discovered the error of my ways and went back to basics. So from now on, I must remember N ever E at S hredded W heat pmsl. The good news is guys, I'm getting better at not leaving things unattended
Had a get together tonight thanks Thefirebloke, Jason, and Alblade for making the effort, we did look very Proffesional with the map spread out over the table 10 more sleeps
I wondered which daft sod had brought the very small map of Australia, I then realised it was a Fosters beer mat
Not sure, but I think we've just about got out of this any potential members joining this trip as there's going to be, I think its time to move it to the touring section? thoughts please.
So The month of September is finally upon us. A week today thefirebloke and I will be in full sail heading to Santander, closely followed by Jason on the pride of Bilbao and Alblade a few days later.
Have you got your stuff packed Craig? Thought you might have convinced yourself by now and be tagging along with Al for the 8 days Just saying like
