Just a couple of links I found on YouTube N-625 Riding the N625 towards Riano_0001.wmv - YouTube N-621 http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Uhq-fTEN-pA
Today I've Just received an email confirmation from Brittany Ferries that the payment has been settled for the ferry, Can't believe its just under 7 weeks for the trip of a lifetime.
Hoping anyone can shed any light on this map bundle, for this trip, feedback welcome The Pyrenees Motorcycle Maps Bundle - Motorcycle Tours Europe - WHAT ARE YOU DOING? - Online Store - Motorcycle Map, Michelin Maps, Motorcycle Tours, Motorcycle Touring, Motorbike Rides, Motorcycle Atlas, Motorbike Routes
I can lend you the best rides France and another large scale European map which is very detailed - my suggestion would then be blow up and laminate some of the large map. those are all good maps if you are going to need them again ALso just found my 'Southern France 1:800,000 scale map with highlighted routes from my trip including the point where I caught fire marked! - Insight Travel Map It misses the Picos but that's about all
I was planning on doing something similar Al with the laminating, i could even take some images off googe maps and print them? although that ones beyond me at the minute
If you have an iPhone then you can now save maps in their iOS app and use them offline, so you can browse the area you're going to be travelling through them save it to your phone and use it abroad without needing any roaming data. Here's how to do it: http://gigaom.com/2013/07/18/wish-you-could-get-google-maps-for-ios-offline-now-you-can/
https://vimeo.com/channels/pyrenees/34467327 Just to remind you of what you are heading for in 7 weeks - envy count will rise exponentially come mid September when I should be heading to our playground.... Roaming data charges = nightmare!
The maps man bundles are excellent. Give great scale and the Michelin maps highlight all the best roads. Very very handy putting together routes. Although Steve will have the roads covered no doubt mate. He's been there enough!
32 sleeps. Just thought I'd share that information with you all. And another thing, we have a wild card in the mix. Not long since received a txt telling me of another certain northwesterner who has just booked his ferry and is joining us for the first 9 days. Fantastic news. I'll not spill the beans who though, I'll let him do the introduction, unless he's too shy?
Gary, you can go off people you know. However has Janice Long given your trip a dedication yet? So envious - such good times down there in the past.
No she hasn't Al, TBH, I've not listened to Janice in a long time, not turned a wheel for over a year and to be fair, it was really the only time I tuned in. I'm just relying on MrsB's generosity for this one
Yes mate, hull ferry crossing on the Friday night, then heading for Reims area and down via Autun I think at the moment. Out for six days this time so we're a bit more relaxed about destinations than usual, but the plan is to return to le Puy en Velay and re ride the D906 that we did many years ago, fantastic road.
Fantastic. We're starting to settle on a few places we'd like to see now. We're starting Santander and going into The Picos De Europa for a few days, then the 260 right the way through to Andorra cutting in and out here and there to take in some passes etc, I think the furthest we plan to go into France is to Milau for the viaduct and Rouqfort But with 17 days at our feet "sorry Al" who knows where we shall end up.
Yeah but to be fair Pete, with my OCD i will probably spend 10 of those checking for my wallet and the straps on the luggage
Well that's okay then, I'd hate to think you were just going to enjoy yourself all the time. I'd need a divorce and a retirement party before getting 17 days away. Always worth checking mind, I lost the access pass for my office last week after six years of zipping it up in my jacket pocket I finally didn't do it last Friday, thought the thing that was flapping at my side for ages on the M62 was part of my bumbag, nope, lanyard on pass. Lots of form filling on Monday and made to feel like a crim.
To be fair, we was only looking at the 10 days. The crossings booked up so quickly, I guess it's worked in our favour in the long run? 18hr crossing as apposed to the 36hr and an extra week to acclimatise the OP has managed to get docked the same day as us, but he's had to go the day before into Bilbao, and it's what 140km so not really mad milage, then head to the Picos think where doing our first night in Potes and having a look at Fuente De and a possible cable car ride. Getting back to the OCD lol Is it strange of me though? I feel as if I'm practicing for a F1 pit stop with routine of late, but getting things in the right on fuel stops are going to be essential. With the possibility of some 3500 or so miles there's going to be plenty Oh, And Pete, Don't forget to take loads of pictures and post a tread up when you return. Routes etc, they love a bit of that
Well on my bucket list of things to do in life was a European trip so I have now booked on to do part of this trip with Gary and Steve and to say I am we'll excited is an understatement I have had to go from Portsmouth to Bilbao as i was struggling to get ferries and I actually arrive after you Gary getting in on Tue 10th September at 7.45am its a very long crossing as it leaves on the 8th at 10.30pm so a couple of sleeping tablets with make that pass quick enough . I leave the following Tuesday 17th Sep getting back to Portsmouth on the 18th in the morning , meaning I can then do the Brandshatch track day on the 19th if I can get my trackbike there. Need to ask Andy a favour on that . I won't be doing the trip on my blade though I plan to do it on something else pics to follow soon of my new bike . Anyone have any storage contacts in Portsmouth as I wanted to drive down with new bike in the trailer ?
