had two friends killed in the same crash riding beyond there ability.
they were not far over the 60 speed limit but that proves the point
that you ride to the conditions.same way I have no issue riding above
the limits if the roads and conditions are safe.if you crash it doesnt matter
if its 40 or 140, you fall the wrong way and its night night but thats the
risk that we are willing to take, like my dad always says, sure you could
get hit by a bus tomorrow so better go out doing something you love.....
(he's 70 and rides an 03 R1, after a a blade next as the R1 isnt sharp enough for him lol)

I know what you mean phantom
My crash at 110 = gravel rash, quite bad but could of been worse
My collision with the car both of us doing aprox 10mph = died at scene, brought back, lots of broken bones, joint replacements, metal work, had to learn to walk all over etc etc lol

It's just luck at the end of day

140 in a 40 would be stupid, but I bet a majority on here have done well above the national speed limit at times. You do your own mental risk assessment, is it dangerous? Yes _if it wasn't it wouldn't be fun! Would others class it as dangerous driving? _ yes they would, we all seem to be more self righteous when sitting in judgement of others.
The risks are you either get hurt, hurt someone else, or get caught and punished it will always happen whilst we have the primal part of our brains active that seek a thrill.
