There was an article in MCN a while back about the fact that honda now state that valve clearances should be checked on the 600 mile service, obviously mcn's angle was that this was an outrageous new expense on bikers and may lead to the end of the world, or something similar. If you have a search around on the mcn site you'll probably find the article, can't remember the reasoning honda gave for it, but it's probably technical and therefore beyond my understanding. Quite a lot of dealers though weren't happy about the fact it made them look like money grabbing thieves, as if.

Edit : a quick google found this, it seemed to be smaller twin engines not big litre lumps!

Hell of a price, but it's the labour @ £*** Per Hour. I'm sure if you asked, and prepped the job someone would set the gaps. Only cost a few shims if any are needed!

Spoke to my local muckernic the other week. He said it would be about £300 for a 16K service with valve checks on my 07. Mind you he is not in a fancy Honda approved dealership.

I too had my exhaust shims changed at 16000 miles on my 2011 Blade, Honda have stated 16000 miles for a reason. so why not go with it?
You will only feel gutted and very tight if something was to go wrong.
