Other option is get a second hand pc and download a free map. Will most likely run better, less chance of damage and you will sell it for virtually what you paid for it if you remove and eBay when you change bikes. Just a suggestion.
It seems strange that the full system has no tangible effect on fuelling and I would question what the point of it is if it doesn't flow enough air to warrant more fuel!
Fair point and I can only go on what I have been told, perhaps as they say to get the most out of the system it needs to be used in conjunction with a performance filter and a PC for optimum performance ? If you look on Akra's web site some of the systems and slip-ons are advertised with a warning to use the exhaust in conjunction with a PC to avoid damage, CB1000R for example. No such warning on the Blade systems and taken from Performance Parts site " Akrapovic exhausts are designed to work with standard fuelling settings and will give healthy power increases and trouble free, smooth running without the need to refuel. It is not recommended to use free-flowing aftermarket air filters in conjunction with Akrapovic exhausts without also fitting a fuelling device to compensate for any possible change in fuel / air ratio." I've emailed Honda UK to see what their opinion is as well.
Had a response from Honda UK Tech Support "The system that Honda sell as an official Honda accessory is a slip on with CAT. The system you are talking about is not a recommended Honda Accessory and we would therefore not sanction fitment. This aside, if the engine was running to lean the O2 sensor would read this and try to adjust the injection within its parameters, but this could still result in the engine running to lean and being damaged and would not show as a DTC." So, none the wise but yes to be sure and if in doubt fit a PC however I'll experiment and see what happens, be sure to let you know, wonder how I can get melted valves done under warranty.
Yeah, I've run a full race system for years in the past with no trouble, except maybe feeling a bit rough down low. AFAIK the O2 sensor can only affect a small range of fueling though.
I believe the o2 sensor only works up to 4000 rpm but somebody else please confirm if this is true or made up as heard I it second hand. I still think a cheap second hand PC would make an improvement and make it safe beyond doubt for a modest out lay, most of which could be recovered when sold on.
