Thank you Colin. And thank you Alblade.

So long as you get all that naked dancing malarky out of your system just now mate I'll be a happy man.

Last thing we want is another naked man up here chasing the sheep

As there seems to be a few going from Warrington(Me and Giover) plus Alblade(Manchester) plus others going up Wigan,Southport then Blackpool on the Thusday we might as well all go up together and have a few meet points on route on the m6 plus anyone else who can meet up with us.

Lets arrange this near the time looks like the Scotland tour is going to be a fantastic trip( as my mrs said its just an excuse for a piss up)don't know what she's on about as I said we will all be in bed for 10pm.;)

Got some of my Ventura gear today just waiting on the Mistal bag and then I can start packing.:D

Can't decide whether to pack a KILT I have in loft ,went to a mates wedding once who lives in Glasgow and all the lads wore one.Would look good over my leathers.:D

More than welcome to tag along mate.
There are a few from north of the bridge who want to join in for a leg of the journey.

I know there's a thread knocking around pertaining to luggage for touring, just wondering if anyone has any other thoughts/views.
So here's the main thread. http://1000rr.co.uk/touring/1764.htm

I'll be running with this little lot, I hope it's adequate? I'll be using it as a trial run for my Europe trip in september.

    Shameless plug. http://1000rr.co.uk/events-meetings-ride-outs/7509.htm

So this is what I've come up with.

On the back end I have this.

And it expands as large as this.

On the tank I'm looking at one of these. It's the Givi tank lock system.

I'll also get one of these. Eventually for day trips out for the camera. 4ltr capacity. Plenty big enough for a day trip around Wales etc?

So regarding Europe that's a combined total of approx 44ltr of luggage space. Plenty?

    Gaz,

    My thoughts are :

The tankbag is way too tall - I'd go for a smaller tank bag only and a bigger bag at the back.

Nerd alert here - but do a trial pack run with all the 'gadgets' like camera + lens, plus phone charger, plus camera chargers, netbook / mini laptop with charger / portable hard drive if you take a gopro. phone charger, satnav etc.

Shoes and wash bag (esp contacts , solution etc.) another annoyingly bulky thing - also put shoes in plastic bags 'just in case' you have 'poo on your shoe' (even tiniest bit causes havoc!)

waterproofs, plus goves - the list goes on!

I've got a scan somewhere of what to take for a weeks trip in a kreiga bag - I should try and see how I get on.

I agree with Alan, more weight at the back. I always ride with a tankbag when touring, but only put essentials in like waterproofs, phone, money and cards, maps. Therefore it's not in your way and you have extra space to expand it if you need ( present to keep the wife sweet ). However when I'm travelling on the motorway I fill it up so that I can rest my chest on it to give my arms a rest.
As for the tailpack I normally use an Oxford Lifetime rollbag (50 litres) but I've had it for a number of years and should probably look for something newer.
Found this while browsing and it looks very promising

Cost is about £138.00 from Motorbikes and Parts Luggage Specialsts - Givi Luggage, Bagster Laggage, Kappa Laggage
It's 50L capacity, looks very neat and has bungees on top to take any other bits you might need.

Gary, as per Al and Fire blokes comments - i have one of these GIVI T489 TANKLOCK MOTORCYCLE MOTORBIKE TANK BAG 14L TO 18L EXPANDABLE | eBay its brilliant but you really wouldnt want to go any bigger as your position on the sports bike is naturally over the tank and it'd get in the way.

Load up the rear, Kreiga US30 + 20 is what i use, ventura is also good.

personally dont like the look of the roll bags or anything which straps down to the rear end as it can f*ck up your paint!

My findings exactly with a tank bag. Being a balls to tank kind of rider I did find the tank bag restricted my movements around the bike quite a lot on both the Ducati and the blade.
