Well they do have taste, so I'd like to think so You know something, I've sat outside that hotel dozens of times and I never knew any better about what they did biker wise. It wasn't till Alblade sent me a link that I realised it was the same place. Just goes to show you how little I know
I agree with Gary on this I would rather stay the extra night and ride home after a decent nights kip, put me down for the 3rd night as well.
Hi Colin, not been on for a while and just seen this. Looks really good mate as those roads are excellent, especially over the Cairngorms. I fancy coming along but never know when I'll be at home as working away a lot. I'll wait till nearer the time and if at home at least join up with you guys in Ballater for the run over to Granton on Spey.
Watching this thread........................I,m sorting a week in Scotland for 10 in 2013 so wont be able to come with you guys but by the look of it I,ll try n book a large house/barn/cottage in the west side.
Phoned the Baccleuch Hotel today, and spoke to 1 of the guys there. I've left him some info on rough numbers, and also day of arrival. He is going to get the prices together and give me an email tomorrow. There are rooms available, we just need to wait and see how much it costs.
For Thursday night I've found this guest house in Hawick (about 15 miles from meeting point) - very geared up for bikers - Hizzy's Guest House: Hawick, Scottish Borders Location TD9 9BD - Google Maps £35 a night per person including a HUGE breakfast to set you up for the whole day (so the owner says!) - said I expect 10 - 12 to need this as know some live close enough to travel up on the morning. Majority of rooms twins or double with an extra single bed and can sleep 24 total. Rather than drag this out with loads of replies and to take some work off Colin can you send me a message (Al goes off to delete loads of messages to leave space in in-box) if you want a room here. I'll then ask Colin to edit post 1 with details of those staying there - other places may be available but it looks ideal.
what a fantastic trip, wish i could commit but similar to ieathaggis, though i havent a clue where i,ll end up working next year. hopefully back home and make a stage of the trip.
Is there any issues with bike security at any of the stayothers .In the excitment of going away i think this is also to be considered .
Erm. No I wouldn't think so mate. The only thing that will be near your pride and joy will be a sheep or a red stag
