Drove in to blizzard conditions today. Visibility way down. Not snow. The salt that's been thrown down onto bone dry roads since the weekend is now being churned into a white cloud by the traffic. Which now means that there's a layer of it coating every surface inside and outside of my car just waiting for the next shower of rain to start it catalysing the oxidation process. Thank you South West Highways. I know that come this time of year you sit on a cleft stick, damned if you do and damned if you don't but if, just occasionally, rather than blindly following procedure laid down by some faceless, detached bureaucrat, somebody could just look out of the window and say, f'rinstance "It's going to be bloody cold tonight but it's completely dry, with no rain given and the temperature's too low for a dew to form. Let's not piss away our grit reserves tonight and see what happens tomorrow." Then I reckon, at the very least, my car wouldn't start to rot before it's time. Just a thought.

Good luck boys. It's frikking minging here. Rain like bullets coming in horizontally and has been all day. Looks like all the good work done by three weeks of dry is completely undone and the waters is a rising again.
