If you paid for it ( or a deposit over £100 ) using a credit card then you could use them to apply pressure as they have joint responsibilities with the vendor under the Consumer Credit Act ( section 75 )
They basically got the brush off by Honda and vosa, vosa tested a bike Honda supplied them (not Jim's bike which even the techs at the dealer could now replicate!) and vosa also suposidly looked over the plans of the abs system which showed the bypass valves that are meant to work in the event of a system failure. Vosa was at that point was happy the system was working as developed along with error redundancy and therefore signed off the system was fit for purpose! Jim then done same as a lot of other owners done when Honda basically told them to fook off he sold the bike on and bought a bm I think it was! Can't remember petes outcome off the top of my head.
I read your thread about vosa when you posted it before, I thought that something might of progressed, clearly not, I'm dertined to get rid now just because the way the dealers have carried on, not sure I want another Honda now either, what a bunch of Kun* faced Bastar** can't believe they get away with this

I filled out a VOSA form and sent it in. No reply. I made a complaint to Honda when I ran into a pedestrian. They laughed, then stopped returning my calls. My dealer doesn't even like test riding it because they think it's shit and don't trust it., Last £ honda ever get from me I can tell you... H
This is a 'I have a friend story' so believe me or not.. After returning to motorbikes I heard of the eCABS saga and told a friend, who was also buying a bike after years off. He works for a large ex-public sector organisation and happens to be their contact with VOSA. I asked him to read the threads on here, and elsewhere, and comment. He was amazed and spoke to a VOSA contact. His explanation was VOSA like many other regulatory agencies simply does not have the resources to take on a big corporate like Honda if the corporate significantly pushes back. They get swamped in expert and legal opinion that they cannot cope with. He said a wealthy, determined customer will just get cashed out or given a new bike. I think the only way to deal with this, if you have an eCABS bike you are unhappy with, is just trade or sell it and put it down to experience. To be fair to Honda, they do get more right than wrong and a collapse in the value and reputation of the used eCABS bike fleet, where dealers just can't sell them, would hurt Honda eventually, though not help you individually I know.
The above response does not surprise me in the least. As some of you are aware I was one of the affected owners that pushed as far as I could, I dealt in depth with VOSA and could read between the lines in conversations, that I will not repeat out of respect for the honesty I was given, that this was going absolutely nowhere, coupled with the complete and deafening silence of various people within the motorcycle popular press, who again promised to deliver, and investigate, as good journos sometimes do, and then they went quiet enough to fear for their safety, had they not kept writing other articles, to realise that sometimes no matter what the rights and wrongs are, you just are not going to get justice and a fair resolution. So as above, any owner who feels he is not getting anywhere with this issue has 2 choices, stick with it and potentially ruin your love of motorcycle riding or sell it, take the financial loss and move on, and accept that sometimes wrong triumphs over right. VOSA made a promise about the next Blade, its the only thing about the bike I am really interested in seeing if it was an accurate comment.
What promise did VOSA make about the next blade? So most of you guys stuck with the blade, non abs, what other bikes did some of you guys move over to?
I think your flogging a dead horse if I'm honest! I'm so glad I removed my whole system, Not that I had any major issues other than the lever coming back further when filtering on few occasions at slower speeds. The only down side is the bikes rear end doesn't feel so settled under really heavy breaking and I'm having to use the rear brake more often. No great shakes and would sooner have a completely independent system rather than all the dramas that are attached to this ABS system. Hope you get your money back and you can move on with something your happy with.
Yeh I agree with you that no one is going to get anywhere with this issue but, I believe when you have issues as serious as the one being talked about, then the buyer of the goods has to complain as far as they can. If not what's going to happen? people just settle for second rate shit even though they paid more for it, other potential buyers wont be as well informed when buying there next bike which they will spend thousands for, and mainly because Companies such as Honda will at least think twice (you would hope so) when producing some shit system that they will not get the sales they need because of the previous f'ups they made.
I would go directly to your finance provider and tell them your rejecting the bike for safety reasons and explaine the situation! I'm sure that's the only way your going to get out of the drama.
Honda financed so writing a letter to both dealer and Honda finance. Once I've resolved this issue the next issue is to choose another bike Just don't know if I want another Honda
I'd suggest that if you do go back to your finance provider that you print off a ream of this thread to show them that yours isn't a one off, and that it's a situation that Honda haven't dealt with successfully. Good luck!
Just wait for the new one or buy a massively discounted Non ABS version! Or even the SP version if there's any still floating around as non ABS.... Me personally would wait for the new one I hope it all works out for you...good luck
That's one option new 2017 blade other option is getting my 2013 600rr (accident damaged) back on road and waiting for something to interest me, but new Honda don't know if I want to give them my cash again
The ABS issues are well documented so hopefully any new buyer might or should know the score! And some people are just happy to put up with idiosyncrasy of this system. I'm personally not one of them people hence removing the system and reverting back to good old fashioned independent brakes. Some people sing its praises and are more than happy with the system and think it works flawlessly. ABS Is of no interest to me whatsoever, I don't ride in wet damp slippery conditions and realistically this is what the ABS is designed for.
Back in April I went with my mate who deals with VOSA to the Manchester Bike show at Event City. Honda had a main dealer stand and some Honda promotional guys were hanging around. They had an ABS Blade and after a little sit-on a promo guy asked if I was tempted. I broke into to my piece about the ABS system being dubious and got the standard 'that's news to me expression'. I pointed him to the forum stories and said he must be the only Honda rep on the planet who hadn't heard. He kept a total blank face, not a flicker. They are such practiced liars. There was a laptop on the stand and I offered to Google it but he just said I'm sure you're right and will look into this for sure. I must say though, I'd love to know the truth from Honda's perspective why they haven't recalled and sorted this. To take a gamble with a braking system seems crazy.
