What do you mean how can they justify the price - 20% of the price is government taxes. - that is right 20%, to be thrown down the toilet !!

Oh right, the fireblade price hike is down to tax? Missed that one. Anybody going to blame brexit and the fall in the value of the pound as well to get a full hatrick of nonsense?
Tbf brexit didn't really help the pound did it........ Which has no doubt resulted in price hikes due to conversion rates. And therefore more expensive bikes....
Must admit I haven't seen any price increases over and above what you normally get from manufacturers from year to year. They add things to the spec and add £3-500 to the rrp. Except for the firrblade apparently..
But with the market alignment in regards to spec, they would have done so with price, and factored in the current return on selling a bike in uk and value of the pound (and no doubt poor forecast) and no doubt pitched it high.... The exchange rates have been killing the bikes and manufacturers since 2008. That's a fact. As for stated prices on blade, ill wait till official announcement from my local dealer before I take anything serious.... But plus £15k for a standard face lift blade that's on paper no better than all the new bikes out there pitching in at c15k..... Not a chance
I agree, I just don't think anybody should try and blame a potential £14.5k, 19.5k and 22k fireblade on 20% tax or exchange rates. Because it isn't.
If it makes no difference put 50% on top and see how you like that ! Of course it makes a difference if a manufacturer produces a product and then the government sticks 20% on the top of it !! We are talking about total price here, and 20% of that is tax !!!!!!!!
@Mattie660 we are talking about a price hike on the fireblades... How is 20% tax relevant? The tax was the same rate last year and has been for a few years.

exchange rate has a massive effect, how can you think otherwise? 2008 i paid £7,200 for a new r6, year later that same bike was £9.5k... Why, market crashed and exchange rate was hammered so they upped prices to get same recovery... why do you think Honda stopped production of the cbr600. Poor sales due to £10k price tag due to economy... same reason the blade crept up in price without any upgrades for years. totally agree the increase in spec warrants higher price, but we are paying more now due to the economy Imo.
OK, weaker pound has accounted for a small amount of the fireblade price increase I can conceed that.
Like everything else Honda will charge what they think the market will bear. If we don't buy the bikes the price will have to come down or Honda uk will have a shed full of bike's.
To be perfectly honest the £1.7 Trillion of government debt didn't help the pound....... The point I am trying to make is that if you complain about the end price of a thing you have to bear in mind is that 20% tax has been added. So a £15,000 bike is only a £12,500 bike with £2,500 tax on top. You get to pay the £15,000.
