From MCN online - first impressions of the new Fireblade - 21 Jan 2017: "Something else you notice is just how different the bike sounds,.............." Some of us noticed straight away, others are still arguing about It http://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/2017/january/honda-fireblade-launch-first-impressions/
And round and round we go. If you had said "ohh hey lads how good does that new blade sound? Sounds a bit different to the current one hey" then no one would have had an issue with that. What you said was that you could tell the bike was more powerful just by listening to a 10 second promo video. People questioned you and you regaled us with stories of your auditory prowess and how you could practically tell a bikes power output just by listening to it. Do people, rightly so, said you were full of shit and laughed at you.
All the people there are feed and watered and allowed to play on someone's bike. Most are paid riders or journalists that either earn from Honda or from there advertising!!! Future back to back test will tell more for sure. Just listen to what the BSB boys say, coached or what? It's just PR spill !!!
You are all Billie big balls, can we leave it now as it's getting more boring than waiting for Mr Honda to allow a real test of the new blade Ta
I.m to thick and lack of knowledge with all those different settings ....ill just stick to putting my key in and off we go!! No slower no doubt then if I had all the tech I can only ride so fast on the road....the rest is for experts...
I think you have not understood the argument. As an example: A large pile of bricks looks heavier than a small pile of bricks - on the basis that the bricks are the same size, but there are more bricks in the larger pile. So it is perfectly reasonable to say that a Large pile of Bricks - looks heavier - than a small pile of bricks. It is a choice between two similar objects - you are not passing judgement on how heavy you think the bricks are - just that the big pile of bricks looks heavier than the small pile. Similarly: You could say that a 458 Italia - looks faster - than a Trabant. You are not saying that you can tell how fast the cars are. Nor are you saying that you can tell how fast a car is by looking at it. You are just choosing between two similar objects (cars), and concluding that the 458 Italia looks faster. If you give a chimpanzee a choice between a large banana and a small banana, it could probably make the choice for the larger one. It will not be telling you how heavy he thinks it is, but given a binary choice between two items of the same kind, it is perfectly capable of making the choice. Back to the argument. Similarly it was a choice between two objects much the same, my Fireblade and the new one. If they had sounded the same it would maybe have been a different call - but they didn't sound the same, they sounded different - and what is the obvious conclusion from a new upgraded higher revving Fireblade sounding different ? If you have ever attended a MotoGP event, you will know that they have different classes of racing. As you approach the circuit on foot, during practice and qualifying sessions, you may hear the bikes already going round the circuit - but not be able to actually see them - or maybe hear them as you stand in line with your ticket to enter the circuit. After you have heard them a few times you will know if the bikes that you can now hear lapping the circuit, but still not able to see, are the little Moto 3 bikes or the big more powerful Moto GP class - without actually being able to see them. You are not saying that you can tell all bikes apart at random - or know how much horsepower they are producing - but given that you are at a MotoGP event, and there are three classes of bikes - it is not unreasonable to be able to claim to be able to tell the little bikes from the more powerful big bikes, just on how they sound going round the track. Anyway, I hope we can move on from this upset and misunderstanding, that has arisen between us.
Mattie, you can ASSUME as much as you like about a new Fireblade and you probably be right, but do you know how stupid you sound. I couldn't differentiate between my old RR9 and the SP2 in the video above from a soundtrack, and talking about the size of a pile of bricks has no bearing the discussion. If the bikes were side by side and one looked more compact you could assume the new one was lighter and looks more compact but my mate has an 09 S1000RR with a decat pipe fitted and it sounds like the fastest motorcycle in the world but I'd not try and convince someone of that fact! Stop digging the hole as your making yourself sound silly. @derchef cheers for the video.
Me silly and stupid ? this from someone who has a picture taken up a girl's skirt as their Avatar - every time I look at that picture I think - poor girl. Anyway I have got no beef with you. I want to move on, people don't want domestics. So I will take your good advice and you will hear no more bout it from me.
Notice how they only use 2 and 3rd gears around the track. Apart from the straight where they get it up to 5th. Then back to 2nd and 3rd for the rest of the track. Also it looked (0:19 secs in) like Jenny Tinmouth was at the test in Honda BSB clobber - back with the team or just as a ambassador??
I saw Jenny and wondered what she was there for. Not been to portamao but looked like it was a bit of a handful. Who was the rider? Shame didn't get onboard full gas with Linfoot
