Concur fully with the above! Oh and the MSV Tyre Guy was a 'Tired Fecker' who showed no interest at all! His setup looked not much better than a Pikey with his shabby unmarked van and Tatty kit! He gave me back my back wheel with a Metz Ractec fitted with 42 psi in it! The Guy's in the Pirelli Truck on No Limits days made the MSV Subbie look like a Rank Amateur! Just gota butter the Mrs up over the next few days before I dare drop another "Oh I'm just off on another Track Day, sweetie!"
Had a really interesting meeting today, first off I had a few new "extras" fitted to my bike. Radiator was repaired and fitted after spewing it's guts all over the garage floor last time out. New Brembo master cylinder fitted along with racing brake fluid and a new set of SBS dual carbon pads........Oh yes, did I mention I also had a pair of shiny new Dunlop Ntecs fitted! The day started damp and I was rather concerned to say the least about going out on slicks as they tend not to work until you really get some heat in them. How the hell do you get heat into them when you're shitting yourself about the damp and greasy track?!!!!!! Anyway, I went out to do the two sighting laps, no overtaking and following an instructor at a very sedate pace. They felt ok. Next session, track was starting to dry slowly but still plenty of damp patches. Seemed to be making some progress, still riding tentatively though. Then a stiff breeze seemed to arrive to dry the track even more. Went out on the third session and it all came together! My God! these tyres are incredible! Both knees down at every opportunity ( not at the same time obviously!) The lean angles that these tyres give you the confidence to achieve is phenominal!...... I was on a roll! Came back to the garage with the biggest smile on my face possible! Didn't need asking how the tyres performed as everyone could see for themselves! However, my euphoria was short lived as I noticed once again my radiator was spewing it's guts on the garage floor! Different problem this time, one of the hoses had managed to touch the exhaust downpipes and subsequently burned a hole in it! Try as I might to repair it, it just wouldn't hold so once again my day was cut short. But just for those few laps in the third session I was flying! Could've taken on Shakey Byrne! You get the picture and that's what made my day worthwhile! Had another issue with the braking, under hard braking the front end begins to shudder and I can't for the life of me work out what is causing it! I've checked the discs, the headstock bearings, front forks have just had a service at Kais of Wigan but I still can't figure it out. Other ideas would be most welcome. Can't really complain about losing track time due to the hose failure because the weather really started to close in and I probably wouldn't have gone out in it anyway. There's always next Wednesday!!
My rr6 used to get brake shudder I tried everything new discs from Honda head stock new wheel never Sussed it then brought the 12still would of loved to have found out what it was
Hey Wedgie, had this problem from new in 2005 but only ever on the road, never on the track. It always seemed to happen on a rippled road surface and could be quite violent at times. But today it happened for the first time on track. As said, I've changed the pads and master cylinder for better braking but what I'm gaining in brake performance I'm now losing to front end judder!
I would put your EBC double h pads back on and test it down the road and see if any better you could find the new sbs pads that you fitted are that good in track conditions it's really making an existing problem a lot worse I am using the EBC brakes with the same brembo set up and they work very well .
Pleased to hear you had kind of a good day. Wasn't the best weather wise, but that said we are in October. Can't/won't comment on MSV as I have never had any direct dealings with their organisation. Counting my days down now, and hope for a dry one, as I have neither the wets or the desire to stand around in the cold
good to see you all stayed on as for the day layout, there is only NL that run in pit lane,no idea why,and 've asked just get silly answers.also the coming in after 2 laps is a bit shit, focused do it aswell, the thinking is that it shows you where pit lane entrance is,which for oulton can be a good thing, but is annoying when your a regular there as it's a waste of a session, wors still,FE make you slow down on the in lap, which s bollox as everyine rides at different pace, plus it cuts into your track time.
