Was just doing some digging around re RR5 and RR7 boxes! Seems the 07 box needs an 07 clutch basket! My guess is the shaft is different from 4/5 and 6/7! in other words if you get a 06/07 box it will need the basket, I'm sure the baskets are NOT the same, need to check!

If you need a basket..............make sure it comes with the needle bearing as they are a matched set. Actually that's not quite right, what I mean is there are 2 size bearings depending on the basket,so you would need to measure the basket width and then order the right size bearing.
I,ll get in touch with a m8 who used to BluePrint ,see if hes got any Baskets or even a cog set.

Some time has gone by since 2004 to 2007 but I remember all this from back then, can't remember off top of head why they changed them I know the mod for 4/5 clutches to 6/7 was popular but not sure of all the reasons now.......
IF he has to run a 6/7 box Id try and buy the clutch that goes with it IF the price was right, I'm sure it's the whole outer basket that was revised, along with the shaft etc etc.. I know owners of 4/5 who modded there bikes for slippers etc often ran later baskets and whatever slipper.

Yes, to run a 6/7 gearbox you may need the clutch basket to match. As he is sayings make sure you have the 06/07 bearing to match or whatever is needed.

The bush and bearing (needle roller) are not shown as a matched pair on parts index Haggler, but yes as you say they are for year depending I.e year specific.

Agree, as said in PM most breakers will see easy money if they know its a cassette box and if buying later year they will have to remove the clutch to get it so those with a 06 motor etc will be keen to cash in on some easy money (I.e include the clutch basket as part of the deal), talk to them on the phone and be sure they know the box is only half hour job to remove!

I can call them if you need just start the process mate.

edit: don't forget mate we can order just the required parts new, all is not lost... and they made zillions of blades from 4-5 so you will get one...

(unlike the highly powerful super fast 07 model....lol)

now thats something i wasn't aware of,having spent 4 yrs stripping+rebuilding 04/7 bikes (albeit race not road).

the clutch i know,(in fact it was mentioned a while back) but didn't realise the boxes aren't universal.

just as reminder, the main difference with the later baskets is they have a band around the top of the clutch basket fingers as on heavy accelertation (eracing starts) the would bend causing the clutch to slip, they are also slightly deeper (fingers not the whole basket from memory)

Like I say I need to double check what the score is with them I know many who upgraded to slipper on 05 models often ran a later basket which would suggest the shafts are the same? However I know that HRC boxes for example only run a 07 basket which suggests the 05 is not the same? The HRC basket for sale was specified as needs 07 basket? See what the confusion is?

but this where the confusion is setting in.i ran a HRC box in my blade for a while (04 engine) with a 04 basket and an STM slipper.i later had an 07 engine (proper HRC cases direct from PB motorsport) but still ran on 04 basket with a standard box+STM.the clutch basket had been modified, but not to the same spec as 07's,the band actually went around the base of the basket so still had all the same dimensions of a standard basket.i know the STM wouldn't fit an 07 basket though due to the band.

to give proper clarification,mike@ racespares will be a good bet as he advised me a few yrs back when i was swapping engines.
