There appeared to be no oil in the window, seems to be no sign of a leak and the only things I have done recently is fit a powercommander and a different exhaust

What sort of rattle would this cause? And at what point? I seem to have a loud knock every few seconds on idle and gets faster with engine revs I think

Rattle and getting louder sounds like crank/rod/bearing it gets louder the faster it revolves if it is just be careful it don't throw a rod then it's definatey terminal bud . But can't be sure without hearing it

I know this might sound stupid but have you looked through the little window to check the oil with the bike on its side stand, if this is the case then i wouldnt expect to see any

SHit news - my 08 used to use that much I was checking it all the time for fear of it getting so low that would fail -

Its better since the rebuild but still uses enough its a standing joke and bike nicknamed 'Old Oily' by my mates -

Talk to Y.G. and see what options he has for you - he may be able to take that bike as a PX for something he has to get you mobile at zero cost albeit on an older bike maybe -

Thanks Al, I don't think I could part with it I have spent so much time and money I would rather keep it as an expensive ornament until I can afford to repair lol

Thanks for everyone's kind comments :)

depends where the broken part is.could
be something rattling around inside the clutch
basket.I personally would just start stripping the
cases off starting from the side that the noise is
    coming from.
