There appeared to be no oil in the window, seems to be no sign of a leak and the only things I have done recently is fit a powercommander and a different exhaust
What sort of rattle would this cause? And at what point? I seem to have a loud knock every few seconds on idle and gets faster with engine revs I think
Removing engine is easy with the right tools and not rushing stripping the engine is for someone who knows what they are doing I have changed 3 or 4 engines this one I bent the headstock high siding mallory this took 6 hours start to finish in our old office at work lol
Rattle and getting louder sounds like crank/rod/bearing it gets louder the faster it revolves if it is just be careful it don't throw a rod then it's definatey terminal bud . But can't be sure without hearing it
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Balls Sorry to hear this Martin What a bitch and hope you get it sorted and back on the road
I know this might sound stupid but have you looked through the little window to check the oil with the bike on its side stand, if this is the case then i wouldnt expect to see any
I checked with it upright, one of the many bikers that pulled over durring my 3 hour wait for recovery held it up for me lol
SHit news - my 08 used to use that much I was checking it all the time for fear of it getting so low that would fail - Its better since the rebuild but still uses enough its a standing joke and bike nicknamed 'Old Oily' by my mates - Talk to Y.G. and see what options he has for you - he may be able to take that bike as a PX for something he has to get you mobile at zero cost albeit on an older bike maybe -
Probably stretching my skills a bit far but liking the doing it in the office lol. I think the sound was coming from the top right hand side but not 100%
Thanks Al, I don't think I could part with it I have spent so much time and money I would rather keep it as an expensive ornament until I can afford to repair lol Thanks for everyone's kind comments
well as soon as the owner fired it up the dealer knocked it off again so didnt get to hear what way it rattled when reving.
Right been having a think...... I put a ltr of oil in to see if got any quieter, now if I drain that oil out if something has broken then there will prob be metal parts in the oil? Am I right?
depends where the broken part is.could be something rattling around inside the clutch basket.I personally would just start stripping the cases off starting from the side that the noise is coming from.
Sorry to read the news martin and I hope you land some good luck in the coming weeks, sounds like you bloody need it!
