Where better than the beach for a bit of impromptu grooming. And if they are sweeties, did he bring enough for everybody.
@ Gary B Great write up mate and can't fault your comments, I think on any future runs a marker system needs to be implemented, some thing on the lines of the last man of any group that gets ahead of the others waits at any turning point until the leader of the catch up group comes into sight and has seen you before you carry on, and so on back down the group until the nominated rear gunner is able to see the direction of travel. That way when ever route direction is changed there will be a marker man waiting to let you know which way the rest of the group has gone. If you come to a cross roads or 4 exit round about or standard 4 way lights and no marker is there, then straight on is the way. At the end of the day we are all out together and should all return together until we split off to go our separate ways home. It was a great shame we lost a couple of guys yesterday and i did sit at the crossgates roundabout for some time for the rear party to catch up when you came along and pointed you towards the cafe/petrol station, not realising some had allready got lost. Having said all that i had a fantastic day with a great bunch of dudes and really look forward to the next one, thanks to everyone for turning up, keeping it safe and to Barney for the pics ( top guy ) We will get it perfect one day ...... ps- we only had to cut off from smiths honda as we had promised to meet barney at a set time so it seemed wise to split the group to keep that meeting and with your fantastic photographic memory of the route Gaz we knew you'd get to the first rendezvous without fail.
Cheers lee, I never have a problem being back marker I had a cracking day as said previously. I hope no one sees my write up as a cheap slight at anyone? Because it certainly isn't intended to be. The drop off system works well I believe, however I've never tried or been apart of one. You will always get a group with so many bikes spread around, so I'd focus mainly on meeting/checkpoints. Anyway, let's hope we can have another one very soon guys. Cos I'm telling ya, regardless however anyone perceives it, I loved it
back marker system I've worked with is this - Lead bike at junctions Points to a place for 2nd bike to stop - generally at the side of next turn - they then point other riders in correct direction. Other bikes do not wave / nod / acknowledge the 'stopped' rider and ignore him - this bits important because.... The tail end rider then waves clearly as he passes the stopped rider - Stopped rider then knows everyone has passed and starts as new back marker - and he cannot overtake in the group till he has passed a new 'stopped' rider (ie he is no longer last)
A guess what reading all that back marker system makes me think Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Headache!!! lets just get it so we stick together i sugest ductape?
Another funny thing - somebody else telling the lad with the black blade (useless with names) that he had put his tank badges on the wrong way round - after spending ages removing them and re-applying them!
