I like to open it up but only if I can see far enough ahead to make it 'safe'. I also don't like reinforcing the 'bikers are t****' image some people have.

Never in 30 and 40 mph limits, near schools, hospitals etc. 60 in a 50 if bright and clear. 60mph are open season if clear, dry and lacking pull-out possibilities!!!

While in 30 etc its calm and smooth then when the green lanes apear its abit over the limit fast and smooth!

tbh i ride pretty sensible till some hero comes bothering me and my mates i am norm at front of pack so i see him pushing my mates limits into corners etc so i slow down a little let him past and bang cmon then ya cleaver fooker!!! damn i love biking :)

    I agree with this chap ^ :)
Had some good rides out, yet to be experienced on a litre blade though. :D Usually 3-4-5 go out, and Bats is good as a leader, smooth and a good pace,
I usually sit at the back of the group but after our two weekends away this year I reckon I'm going to get as near the front as I can. I quite liked it up there ;)
As said in his post why do some people harass you? Just overtake, I wont get sucked in, and just wave them past.

Agree mucly But some 50's around my area are just stupid. By pass. No accidents or deaths, long and roundabouts between junctions and one min a 70 the next they became 50's. so very hard to try and keep to 50 as some part is downhill

Even an inexperienced rider will seem quick on a big bike to a cager, but antisocial is yr dickheads in urban areas. We've all cursed those for giving us a bad rep. I save my proper quick riding for 6am Sun mornings, get out for 3hrs or so. Love it & prob why I am still alive, lol!

On my way home last night on the city bypass. Dark, damp and virtually bumper to bumper and there's a guy on a GIxxer pulling wheelies in between the traffic.

And I'm thinking 'thanks, mate. The next time one of these cagers brake tests a bike because you've just scared them shitless, it might be me being peeled off their tailgate'.

I like the comments above, reassures me that I'm with the right forum. We all own bikes for the buzz it gives, and for some it's to reaffirm our virility (for those of us that have inadequate appendages according to the wife). Hope she's kidding, although I bet there's some truth in there somewhere........

Anyway getting back on topic - like many, my riding ability falls short of the vast capability of the bike, but it does offer us a chance to push it when circumstances, traffic conditions and desire permit. I love speed, it's my guilty pleasure and having had a a serious accident in 2003 I know the price that can be paid for such an addiction. Like most vices it comes at a cost (including penalty points) but what is life if you can't push it to the limit some times? I like to think that I never endanger anyone else and never take the pixx too much.

For those among us that have children will know, being a father gives you a an enhanced sense of your own mortality and for me this has been reinforced over the years having lost friends and relatives to MC accidents. I lost a friend only this year. In his case he was wiped out by an elderly driver who failed to negotiate a roundabout properly. He was only 30 years old - very sad.

Not wanting to get too profound, live life and enjoy your bikes - just be very careful.

I def fall into the category of 'every now and again' The Mrs says that this may be a slight over statement on my part....... back off topic again!

    Safe riding all!

    Mick

As for being an anti-social rider - def not, I'm alway courteous and polite, especially when stopped by the police.
