Not sure that would work effectively Colin.

Trouble with the standard Blade pillion seat is that the rear mounting spigot is made of plastic and thus flexes under vertical 'Pulled Pressure' as it was designed for sitting on rather than being pulled upwards when a set of Kreiga is strapped to it.

The kit in the link has all metal Tabs and attachments apparently so has far less flex than the Honda seat unit.

Must say with the exchange rate the way it is it's an attractive buy?

I'd be surprised if it would break the rear plastic tab though.

    I'll still give it a try ;)

Some one posted one similar last week, only one comment made by Al, I dont think it was received too well either, when Al asked why he had a bird table on the back of his bike ;)

Colin... I agree you'd not break it but it does flex badly as I've found out just strapping my Kreiga gear from under the rear seat.

Gary.... That's the same unit that was posted last week.

I don't see why the 'Bird Table' comment is an issue?

Surely the whole point of the exercise is to provide a solid and stable mounting point for strapping luggage to?

Once strapped on you wouldn't see much, if any, of said 'Bird Table' anyway and if you ain't carrying luggage then you just refit the OEM seat.

Bird table or not it serves a purpose and is easily changed back over to the pillion cover once back from a tour.

Leave me with this 1 Sinewave. I'll see what I can come up with, and maybe I can pass it on to Megs to make a batch of them.

I'm not making an issue of the bird table comment mate. Simply repeating what al said.
Personally I think it's a good idea, it's practical and would make a good base for luggage whilst touring.
And when not, well, you could use it for a bird table ;)

I reckon they'd sell like Hot Cakes if they could be kept under a Ton!

Best thing about this design is anything (within reason) can be strapped to a flat plate design.

It would be even better if it could be bolted direct to the rear frame, would be rock solid then!

Agreed. Even if the anal amongst us wanted the bike to look the part with luggage off? It's only going to be 4 bolts at the most.
Most luggage has a webbing so you can carry the seat hump around.
So long as the plate has a substantial turned up edge with slots to accept the strap.

Looks like rain tonight, I reckon I'm going to spend a couple of hours in the fitting shop tonight ;)

You could use the 2 pillion seat strap holes to fix it at the front securely, with a couple of spacers to pack it up to the top plate. You can then use the hook type tab at the rear with a jacking type screw to secure the rear of the plate down.

Damn it I'm in too deep now

Why not use the brackets megs made for me to strap the kriega down Gaz? Bolts to the subframe, and wraps round the rear seat...
    ?
    should be very sturdy.

That's the weak point Si, the wrapping round the edge of the OEM seat.

It rocks about on it's mountings.

If you strap it too tight like I have it just bends the seat sides and puts even more stress on the plastic mounts which then results in a looser fit and more rocking! :(
