Anyone fitted and balance their own tyres? Is it easy enough?

Yes, but you want a good guy that won't mark your rims!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

What I did was, 28 years ago i had a son then you have to train them in the auto trade, this finally pays off to have tyres fitted on cars and bikes and MOT s done, and you don't feel bad when you say don't mark the cooking rims

The idea has merit of course, but at 67 - even should I find a candidate to conceive a son - would see me at 87, with my SP2 on classic registration and a 20-year-old son telling me to stick mechanics up my colonic passage because he wants to be a ladies' hairdresser or retail window dresser and appear on every Love Island and reality show with his plucked eyebrows and shaved butt cheeks etc.

Not sure mate, but you can get them fairly cheap on eBay - and probably for less than my one by the time you've added postage.

 

How I have balanced at home before is, put the axle on wood each side rock the axle until the heavy part goes to the bottom. then mark the top. turn wheel 90 degrees, stick on 20g at the mark and rock the axle, if the weight goes up add more if it goes down remove some. It is easy and accurate

 

I use one of these to Balance my wheels. Very Easy to use. Recommended to me some years ago by the guy who used to fit my tyres and mot my Bike. The hardest part for me was getting the bead to break so also bought a bead breaker .
There are plenty of videos on YouTube that show exactly how to use this or very similar products. Cost around £40, Saved me £hundreds

I don't rack up enough miles to have to change tyres!!
