The one I took for a test ride in the summer, I nearly bought it there & then......but held off. maybe next year.
They just need a nice exhaust, the Akra looses this lot for a start! I'm just cutting one up up to make a cheap system and loose the massive baffle box! And some nice wheels 300 pairs of these made, 150 in mag. Really bad pic of under the tank cover.
Do like the BMW an thinking about one for next bike but not sure as they don't have much midrange , just lots of topend power.
Kev if its for the road this will not be an issue do what Barney did take one for a test ride make your own decision but I have had no problems on the road when out with the lads on fire blades if anything they were holding me up.(well maybe just the Firebloke ) I laugh when I hear people question the midrange on the bmw as believe me you can break the speed limit at the blink of an eye, I can understand on track where people have an issue but certainly not on the road . I am lucky as I own both so can compare them and believe me on the road there is not a lot of difference. On the track Scooby did a good summary of it(Jerez post I did) and I am more than happy with the blade as it makes my job a lot easier while I learn track riding/novice racer in the future maybe I would track the bmw. But for now I have 2 ladies in my life the blade that does as I want and the bmw that wants to rip my fecking arms out of the sockets if I ring her neck .
Yes that is a bad picture Arthur ..... You need a decent canon camera , Maybe a 1D MKIII ha ha lol ..
Here's another BAD picture for you mate, no mid range but peak power from this 2011 S1 at 197.5BHP @85ftlb on the same Dyno 08+ Blades make no more than 162! Enough for the road maybe Late S1 makes 185ish with full system and PCV etc, the throttle is nicer if mapped with a SFM as well but shows no more peak power on the chart.
Must admit that is very nice to have that much topend but would rather have a little less at the topend an more midrange grunt .
I sort of like the BMW, only things I have heard from racers is the soft gearbox in them and the dealers over here are useless. my father had the r1200s and it spent more time in the workshop getting work done than on the road, well it ended up they didnt replace anything and just done a ecu reset every time the only other thing is the front end, reminds me of but then I think the front end of the blade looks like it was hit with a shovel but have managed to overlook that too.
