After the last comment here I thought I'd check the manual to confirm the tyre size. It says Dunlop Qualifiers as standard but 190/50. Mine is running a 190/55!
I can't remember what the standard settings are ... But it's convinced me having the bike more compliant for the road is the best thing once sag is setup ... No longer does the bike want to stand up when hit bumps mid corner ... It instead absorbs the bump. For track I will dial in more compression but for road work those settings are bloody good.
My mate turned up when I was playing with mine last week then fetched his K5 1000 down for me to sort. I was seeing 24mm rider sag at the rear and front preload was showing minimum at 5 ring where standard was 4!!! Compression was backed right off at 15 and rebound at 8. Dialled in 32mm front and 30mm at the rear and adjusted his R&C until it seemed right he couldn't get over the difference. Reckons he had to force it thought the turns before and it felt like it continually wanted to tuck. Now feels amazing!!
Even a bit more preload wouldn't be a bad idea... aim for 35mm each end ... I'm actually a bit less in rear and bit more in the front to keep the bike balanced. I am still experimenting though but found even on the standard front preload setting the bike feels planted. Raising the rear made the biggest difference....
Obviously just the way he worded it ... I've gone back to standard preload on front ... 38mm feels too flighty to me... Having now compared them both.
I still need to drop the front of mine but it's a ball ache to get the tools in there as I like to torque things up properly and my torque wrench won't fit in the fairing area.
Before you do that leave the rear alone and try removing two turns of front preload and ride it ... I think you will be surprised.
