Right then, this is really weird. I might have got my sags all wrong cause I was way off.
Anyway, to start with I got geared up and found some digital scales and I weigh exactly 81kgs. I put the bike back to standard settings then went for a spin, too hard front, arse sinking rear, chatter a little bit on the front to.
So, Set rear preload = standard gives me 33mm sag so left it.
Set front preload = full soft and still only gives me 30mm sag.
Left rebound and comp on the front standard.
Rear rebound standard, rear comp 1&3/4 out from full stiff.
Conclusion = What a difference, feels lighter, very little squat on acceleration, no chater, flicks left to right easier in a nut shell chicken strips gone. Just gotta get used to the front diving a bit more (still have 20mm of fork travel left on max braking from 100+ to 0mph) My son in law just had a blast (same weight as me) and he says it's brilliant.

A lot to be said for standard settings tbh ... Sag was measured from full topped out yeah?

Me thinks the previous owner has replaced the springs at some point. I got 5mm difference from 5 turns out to 0 turns out. Static sag was 12mm ish. Like I said weird, unless the spring rate had been changed

Just got back, dropped the front preload back to 8 turns, rear still on 6, happy enough, stopped when I was out wound back everything as it was too stiff for me on @sps170373 settings. Currently on Front rebound 2 out, comp 2 out, Rear rebound 2 out, comp 1.75 out. Much nicer, very compliant. Gonna leave it alone now. Very happy.:)

Preload is measured from fully out

Rebound and Comp from fully in

    ;)

Surely 8 turns in preload must be as hard as feck.

Not as hard as it was on 12 Turns! :) 15 turns in is max preload so only just over half way in.
@Mr OCD I never tried it on 6 turns purely as when it was standard there was too much travel at 6 turns with my weight on it.

Id still try tho as 35mm is an ideal setting but anything near is gonna be better than standard and if the standard springs are 11's then that's a lot harder than the 9's in a gixer 1000!

0 turns out from fully in is real hard. That's actually 15 turns in! If you think about it fully out is 0 then from there you are loading the fork spring with the weight in turns. Standard is 6 turns IN from fully soft or 9 turns OUT from fully hard if you like.

Ok just to clarify fella, Mine is 0 turns in from full soft, any harder and my sag disappears. I think previous owner has changed spring rate. Just got 30mm sag at the mo fully soft so that will have to do

Fair enough - if works at 8 turns leave it at that as with the rear at 6 that's a perfect balanced bike from front to rear ...

8 turns feels a bit stiff for me but I'm told that I need to open up compression screw a bit if raising front end as this will remove the stiffness ...

May try it soon but on 6 turns I've still a good 40-50mm of travel left!
